Protesters surrounded Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem during a news conference in California on Thursday. It appeared that Noem’s voice was nearly drowned out at some points by people yelling and sirens blaring during a visit to Otay Mesa, San Diego, to discuss an update on border security and drug seizures along the U.S.-Mexico border.
Journalist Aaron Rupar pointed out how the press conference was physically set up and how the view could have been obstructed as the volume of voices around her increased. Video and images showed a large number of evidence bags and boxes surrounding her.
Thank you, Aaron, for that information. He’s always knowledgeable and worth listening to. There’s some mockery going on in my head because she couldn’t be heard. Well, she’s only there to talk and look good among the window dressing of supposedly everything that “we” have confiscated. She does love her talking, after all. There’s just been no proof of anything *she* has actually done.
“Definitely sounds like protesters that are making the commotion behind Noem (also note that they’ve set up the news conference so you can’t see anything behind her),” Rupar wrote on X. Noem also appeared to have a hard time hearing questions through the commotion, Rupar added.
Noem has been criticized on multiple fronts, including her controversial handling of immigration enforcement, her role in overseeing the Trump administration’s ICE operations that have been accused of excessive force — and even led to the death of two American citizens in Minneapolis — and her support for harsh border policies that critics argue are inhumane.
The little that we’ve been able to find out about what it’s really like in ICE holding facilities is that hell yes, those places are inhumane. Apparently, immigrants are not considered to be real people to them. Even children. What the hell is that all about? And we’ll just skip past Ghislaine being treated like a queen. If she gets commuted or pardoned, there will be hell to pay. But immigrants aren’t worth even decent treatment. Krispi Gnome does what she’s told, photo ops and speeches that no one really believes. Along with many others, no doubt, I await the inevitable upcoming ‘Nuremberg Trials’ of the Trump regime with quite some interest – and quite a lot of anticipatory schadenfreude.
But they won’t heal the damage caused to so many innocent people by these imbecile goons, that will have to be ameliorated by the certain civil suits dismantling the billionaires fortunes.
Trump-emberg? Heh. I can hope. The crap that his ‘cabinet’ has pulled on top of Trump’s crap would be quite spectacular in a courtroom. I really hope it happens.
The damage is permanent and still continues. Court is the only option left and the thought of the expense these people will have to pay makes me cringe.
