Wow, it seems Moses MAGA Mikey Johnson isn’t all MAGA and all Trump all the time as we had been seeing up to now. But he broke away from his orange tin god on this one. Wouldn’t it be nice if he could keep his head out of Trump’s ass? Yes, I know, not happening, but we can dream. With gratitude to Raw Story:

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) tried his best on Wednesday to back up President Donald Trump’s crusade against members of Congress who posted a video reminding servicemembers they have a duty to refuse illegal orders. But he broke with the president on one key aspect of the case: whether they should be prosecuted for it.

The video, put out months ago by a number of lawmakers with a military background, including Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ), prompted Trump and his allies to threaten them with prosecution and even suggest their actions are punishable by death.

Yea, Doofus Donnie was having fits all over Truth Social about that. Apparently, he doesn’t want anyone to know they can refuse illegal orders, because who knows? They might be orders from him since he is supposedly, and I have my doubts, Commander-in-Chief. Ugh, could you imagine having to answer to that orange tin god? Yeah, nauseating for me too, and cringing right here in my chair right now. I had a ton of faith for Biden being C I C, but Adderall man? Not just no, but oh HELL NO.

Behind the scenes, the Justice Department tried to secure an indictment. On Tuesday night, a grand jury took the extraordinary step of outright rejecting the charges — the latest in a series of so-called “no true billsblocking Trump-appointed prosecutors from filing apparently politically-motivated felony charges. Asked by reporters about the affair, Johnson conceded the Democrats probably didn’t do anything worthy of prosecution and imprisonment — but didn’t back down from defending Trump’s anger over the whole affair.

Maybe that’s Mikey’s CYA for Trump. But they couldn’t get the indictment anyhow, so it may be a moot point. Well, it was a nice few moments while it lasted. Apparently, someone has to remove Mikey’s spine and put it back in storage, since he rarely uses it. Do you ever wonder if he has nightmares because he has to suck up to Trump? We have those kinds of nightmares about even the thought of it, let alone actually having to do so.

“A line is crossed, and it’s very serious when you have leaders here in the Senate and House effectively telling members of the military to defy orders,” said Johnson. “It’s a very dangerous gambit they were playing. Should they be sent to jail? Probably not, but we need to call it out as being wildly inappropriate.

The video came out during a period when the Trump administration was facing intense scrutiny for a series of proposed and actual military orders experts feared were unlawful — from bombing non-military ships in the Caribbean for alleged drug trafficking, to the deployment of the National Guard to crack down on anti-deportation protesters around the country.

That didn’t sound nearly as wishy-washy as we’re used to hearing from Mikey. Huh. Well, we should mark the day on our calendars, because we know it won’t last. He’ll go back to his obsequious self soon enough. At least he stood up to Trump for a few brief moments. What a disaster he is as Speaker. Apparently, he was the perfect milquetoast that everyone could agree on to try to balance things. But just about anyone can twist his arm to get something done, liberal to extreme conservative. Mikey, we hardly knew ye, for a few all-too-brief moments.

Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise that among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

  1. See, Johnson’s comment where he LIED in saying the Democrats told service members “to DEFY orders” doesn’t seem to have challenged by whomever he was speaking to. This is why I get so frustrated when people criticize Dems for not “doing more” to stop Drumpf. The media doesn’t seem to seek them out, even when such BLATANT lies are being spewed by GOPers. And, based on this coverage, it doesn’t seem that any reporters have any more spine by challenging Johnson, even with a “Mr Speaker, didn’t the Democrats merely remind service members of THEIR obligation NOT to follow an illegal order so they don’t face charges of war crimes, like German soldiers in WW2 faced?” Or, “Is it not true that these former service members who served their country in active duty chose to remind current service members that they MUST not follow any illegal order, even as we’ve seen US aircraft shoot at boats without having credible evidence presented to them, leading to the deaths of countless people?”
Stop all the whining about Dems not doing enough until they have the opportunity to get as much face time in front of reporters, especially reporters who are not representing *our* views. When some brave journalist is willing to call out ALL this administration’s lies on the air and in front of other reporters, we might be on the way to a return of a strong Fifth Estate.

    • Joseph. I remember the information you had commented to me previously and any time Democrats come up in an article, I make sure to put in what you told me. I had not considered the face time with reporters, nor those same reporters asking the hard questions.

In terms of the reporters, I don’t have anything else to say except I agree with you. Yes, I wish Democrats would interact more with the press. I wish we had been able to blow up Blondi yesterday. The more we see of her, the more I think she should be thrown overboard. As Denis said, she was there to please Trump and in no way do her *JOB* to answer the damn questions. What she did to the survivors, well, I’ve done a lot of screaming. I have no idea where to go from here. They did not deserve to be abused by the fake, smirking, AG for the US. What a bunch of hooey.

I try very hard to be balanced when someone deserves it. Unfortunately, not many do. That’s when the snark comes out.

I *am* listening to you. Please remember that.
