Time for a bit of fun since the two previous columns were heavy subjects! We all know that Trump has, and had, an irrational hatred of wind farms. It makes less than no sense because wind is free – and maybe that’s why. It’s not oil or his clean, beautiful coal *cough* *bullshizzle* *cough*. Maybe it’s because he can’t grift any money from them. So, here he is pontificating about the wrong thing. With great appreciation to Raw Story:

President Donald Trump appeared to get his birds mixed up on Tuesday when he made a snide social media post about wind energy. On Truth Social, Trump posted a picture of a dead bird in a field of wind turbines. “Windmills are killing all of our beautiful Bald Eagles!” the caption reads. It was amplified by the White House and viewed millions of times on X.

Okay, first thing is, since when does Trump care about birds? The second thing is, we do not appear to have that many, if any, wind farms the size of the one shown in the picture. But remember, Trump hates wind energy because he can’t profit from it. He can’t control the wind like he can control other things, such as gazillionaires indebted to him for tax cuts. (Oh, wait, that was mean…..naaaahhhh.) So here we are with the setup. Now it’s time for the fun part, even bigger than the setup.

However, the bird in the picture isn’t a bald eagle, as the president claims. It’s an Israeli falcon. “Unfortunately for Trump’s effort to sow outrage among American patriots at what he proclaimed to be an image of the national bird laid low, closer inspection reveals the photograph does not show a bald eagle and was not taken in the United States,” The Guardian reported after Trump posted the image. “The image actually shows a falcon that was killed at a wind farm in Israel eight years ago.”

Ha. Idiot is as idiot does. Donnie must really be losing it if he didn’t verify the picture’s accuracy before posting. We know how careful he is of his “image” and actions. This shows him as a fool. He’s not going to like it when the fact-checkers show up. Someone will slip, and he’ll see it. Then there’s going to be hell to pay, and people should practice ducking ketchup bottles. For dessert, here are some sprinkles on top:

The Guardian also noted there were clues as to what kind of bird was in the picture that Trump seemingly overlooked “in a rush.” “The first is that the bird is missing the distinctive markings of a bald eagle. The second is that the turbine blamed for its death appears to have Hebrew writing on it,” according to the report.

Trump has consistently bashed wind energy, and his second administration has rolled back several Biden-era clean energy programs. In December, Trump halted permits on thousands of new wind energy projects, citing reasons stretching from national security risks to the number of birds that die in wind farms each year.

Time for my latest favorite phrase – what a bunch of hooey! National security? Oh, please. Birds killed – since when does he care? It really seems to come down to money, pure and simple. If he can’t make any money from it, then he doesn’t want to do anything with it, especially if it was a Biden-era project. And by the way, has anyone heard anything about the gold Trump cellular phone? Or the gaudy gold sneakers?

If only the antipathy for wind would die a slow death like most Trump ideas (his foray into….) (argh, I can’t remember the phrase) (meme coins, maybe?) and we can sneak by some permits to get wind farms started again. His grift-jects are his projects. It’s going to take some doing, but we can get there. The midterms are a start. In the meantime, let’s laugh at Trumpty Dumbty sitting on a wall—one push and down he will fall.

Friends, I know everyone begs you for money, especially around the holidays. I promise, among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

  1. He’s probably done more economic damage to The USA with his actions cancelling renewable energy, wind and solar, and catering to the fossil fuel lobby, than anything else he’s done.

And that’s really saying something. Specially when you look just at the cost of the lack of trust he’s engendered in US promises in almost every area from treaties to economics.

The lead China is gaining in this technology will be insurmountable for decades.

  2. Drosophila melanogaster, in all honesty, has more ‘stuff’ between its ears, than you know who. Then again, given you know who has contrived orchards to grift off, it’s quite possible they think they are superior to Drosophila melanogaster.

  3. Irrespective of the grifting element, the core of his wind turbine itch is the Aberdeen Bay Wind Farm where there are 11 highly visible and productive turbines just offshore from his Menie golf course. Sadly (well, maybe not), Scottish courts have given his objections short shrift.
