The Epstein Files have been one huge “Charlie Fox” (ask a military person if you don’t get it) since Trump got back into office. He made a big deal about it in the campaign and his supporters made an even bigger deal out of it. Maybe they didn’t expect the whole document dump on day one but at least by the end of January. They were SO sure they finally had Bill Clinton by the ‘short curlies’ and as we got into February the MAGAs started getting restless. No less than Kash Patel and Dan Bongino who’d been picked to run the FBI had worked MAGA up into a frenzy. MAGA was SURE with them on the case those files would be out.
As you know, it hasn’t worked out that way. Not at all. Even AG Pam Bondi who said she had the ‘Epstein Client List’ on her desk started backing and filling. Clearly, the more Trump’s DOJ team looked at what they had the more they thought “Uh Oh.” It’s been delay and obfuscate ever since Bondi turned around and said there was no client list after all. Even more than Patel, Bongino was furious and within Trump circles he wasn’t shy about saying so. He came around to a degree, at least publicly but it now looks like he was abrasive enough that he’d been picked to be the fall guy for the administration’s having screwed all this up so badly.
Well, that’s what’s going to happen according to The Daily Beast. Trump will throw any and every person he knows under the bus to save his own skin and he definitely needs a fall guy on this. It won’t end his problem but he’ll take whatever time he can buy. Of Trump’s DOJ Terrible Trio Bongino seems to me to be the obvious sacrificial lamb. Bondi will never be on any shortlist of greatest AGs but of the three (her, Patel and Bongino) she’s the only one with actual qualifications and experience beyond total Trump loyalty. Patel and Bongino are there because they were social media ass kissers with large MAGA followings. Patel is like Hegseth for Trump. Such a huge embarrassment Trump thinks it would be even more embarrassing to fire him. That leaves Bongino, who might actually want out anyway:
Bongino, 51, “could be out any day,” according to Rachael Bade’s Inner Circle Substack newsletter, which reports that the former Secret Service agent and Fox News host angered senior staff with his handling of the saga over FBI documents related to the late pedophile.
Bade writes that Bongino “clashed with [Attorney General] Pam Bondi” and “refus[ed] to show up to work for a time,” adding, “The expectation is that he’ll leave eventually.”
Bongino, who was appointed to the post in March, had previously pushed Epstein conspiracy theories and called for full disclosure when he was a MAGA podcaster.
