Hell of a track record, 0-3. As they said in Game Of Thrones, “Three wins doesn’t make you a conqueror,” but it sure would have helped in Donald Trump’s case. Now he knows just the opposite, what it is to lose all three times up at bat. Lindsey Halligan was disqualified, surprise, surprise, and I will be interested to see what the status of her law license is this time next year. The best she can hope for is to do a Jenna Ellis and just have her license suspended for a time. And in fact, Halligan might do a Jenna Ellis and end up on Newsmax. I doubt that even Fox News would touch her with a ten-foot pole. PoliticusUSA:
The worst thing that can happen to a president is a crisis of credibility. Trump has always had credibility problems, but now that he has failed on the economy, it has magnified all of his other failures.
Ari Melber summed up how things have been going for Trump on MS NOW:
The losses come amid the wider reckoning for Trump that we are all living through.
You can’t miss all of this, whether you open your phone or follow the news through television or newspapers, however you follow what’s been going on in the last few weeks, let me remind you that in the last three weeks alone, Trump lost these two cases today, lost the prosecutor who was doing his bidding, lost his effort to stop those 20,000 new Epstein emails.
Lost the wider fight to block a vote on the release of the remaining Epstein files. Lost all the Republicans on that score in the Senate. Most in the House. Lost MTG as a MAGA ally, and then as a member of Congress, she announced going into the weekend, she’s resigning, and if you go back a full three weeks, he lost the off-year elections.
All these losses add up to a crisis of credibility that will clearly hurt him in his clashes with these other branches.
Trump has no credibility anyhow. The best case scenario for him, and for the rest of us, is that somehow he stumbles through to November 2026 without wrecking the economy too much, although at this point in time, flying blind with no data from any government bureaus to guide us, we really don’t know what could happen at what speed.
If Trump does manage to foul up the economy spectacularly, which is being speculated, then he very well might end up with the Senate seriously in play. We only need four seats on this map, it’s not impossible. A tanked economy, or a tanked economy and people losing their health insurance because it’s that or groceries, might very well deliver up both chambers of Congress to Democratic hands. Then Trump will be stonewalled for the rest of his lame duck period.
But in all events, his huffing and puffing and threatening to Lock ‘Em Up! has all collapsed as the folly that it always was to begin with.
Trump won’t find a decent lawyer to take on the cases he wants to prosecute. And he’s running out of the indecent ones. Say, isn’t Alina Habba looking for work? She had a short ride as White House counsel, went on to a failed U.S. Attorney bid in New Jersey and she’s doing what now? Rearranging her collection of designer bags, bought when Trump was paying her millions?
Finally, Trump is out to get Mark Kelly for having taken part in a video urging troops to not follow illegal orders (like nuking San Francisco) and that Department of Defense (Department of War?) investigation is expected to fall flat as well.
Ahhh, Grandpa, you were cut out to cheat at golf in your old age but you’re not much of a tyrant. At least not so far. And considering how your absurd economic actions are rebranding you, don’t look for that to change in the near future. Trump is making more enemies than he is filling the prisons with the ones he’s got.

I watched Senator Kelly on Rachel Maddow a little while ago. I know some of his bio – career Naval Aviator with combat experience and knowing what I know about Naval Aviation for all the getting shot at in combat a career taking off and landing jets on carrier decks offers a multitude of ways to get killed. Four missions flown for NASA after Naval Service. Husband of former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords who he supported so wholeheartdly as she struggled to get back what she could of her health after being shot in the head (six folks around her were killed). An extraordinary man who’s rendered, along with his wife extraordinary service to this country.
I’ve always assumed that as an Arizonan like his wife he’s got some conservative leanings yet overall is solidly in line with Democratic Party principles. He’s been mentioned as a possible Presidential candidate but has begged off such speculation. He DOES however project that certain sense of gravitas on TV screens that’s essential in this day and age. Trump’s stunt could elevate his profile to allow him to make a serious WH run, IF he chooses to go for it.
The question would be his family and in particular Gabby. Given what she’s been through and the fact she was never able to fully recover from being shot I worry about the stress of it all on her health. Kelly has done more than most and I would completely understand if he puts his wife and family ahead of being President although I LOVE the thought of Gabby Giffords as First Lady after “Melanie” who today gave another petulant ‘I half too due the fooking CHREES MUS tree shit again? What the fook is it with all the Crees Mus deck-o-ray-shuns!”
I don’t know if there are aspects of his private demeanor in his Senate office or life that might reflect unfavorably on him. I rather doubt it but you never know. If the Mark Kelly we’ve seen so far is what he appears to be he’d be formidable.
it would be nice to see one of these folks beat them on the merits instead of a technicality. the end result matters of course but how you get there is important too. that would really stick it to trump and his cult.
