I’ll bet you were not expecting this. I know I wasn’t. Marjorie Taylor Greene has announced that she will be resigning from Congress as of January 5, 2026. She has been disillusioned for some time but I did not expect it to get to this. Greene recently said that she realized that she was not welcome in the Republican party as a woman. That’s true enough. She also speaks here of being primaried by Donald Trump. Evidently she does believe that to be the case or she wouldn’t be taking this step.

Let’s see where this goes. With any luck a Democrat can flip that seat but it is deep red, so don’t hold your breath.
The announcement comes just days after President Donald Trump reportedly issued a directive ordering his supporters to destroy Greene, who has repeatedly broken ranks with the GOP in recent months on issues like the release of the Epstein files and the government shutdown.
The president also publicly denounced the congresswoman, dubbing her Marjorie ‘Traitor‘ Brown and explaining to his followers, that “green turns to brown where there is ROT involved” in a series of Truth Social posts.
Greene condemned the president’s rhetoric in a social media post of her own, writing, “I am now being contacted by private security firms with warnings for my safety as a hotbed of threats against me are being fueled and egged on by the most powerful man in the world. The man I supported and helped get elected.”
The Daily Beast has contacted the White House for comment.
Prior to their falling out, Greene was a MAGA loyalist, something she noted in her statement on Friday.
All good things must come to an end.
And this too.
She’s probably ‘uncoupled herself’ from him and his MAGA, so that she’s got an unshackled chance to ‘have a go!’ That is: she’s after him; his blood; his brain; his bowel … she’s going to decapitate, flail, draw and quarter him, given half a chance.
I hope so.

She is saying a lot but her ACTIONS have not backed up the rhetoric. For all her talk, she’s STILL voting with them to gut healthcare and advance self-dealing corruption schemes.”
If MTG can cause a schism within MAGA, more power to her. Even if she’s defecting for her own political ambitions, which appears to be the case.
