The apple isn’t falling far from the grandtree, it would appear. Kai Trump, daughter of Donald Trump, Jr., is able to compete in a famous golf tournament, due to being given a sponsor’s exemption. (Grandpa’s machination?) However, we can only assume that she’s a bit out of her league because she is predicted to finish dead last in the tournament — and by quite a margin. Wow. How can everybody be so sure? It’s a glaring sign that Kai is endeavoring to punch above her weight, which isn’t a good idea. But then if you’re a Trump, you’ve seen the patriarch of the family do nothing but exactly that. So the idea must take root early on that it doesn’t matter if you have any actual ability for a given task, all that is important is that you have the right last name. (Kai, call up Aunt Lara and she’ll explain it to you.)
Like her grandad’s chances of having a stadium named after him, Kai does not have favorable odds going into the golf tourney.
Kai’s odds to win the event are 2500/1! The next-closest competitor’s odds are 275/1, so you can see the vast disparity there.
Basically, she’s projected to finish dead last in a field of 108 golfers…and last by a wide margin.

Will NFL stadium in Washington D.C. be named after Donald Trump?
Yes                   15/1
Will Kai Trump win The Annika?
Yes                   2500/1
Kai Trump Round 1 Score
Over/Under      96 strokes
Kai Trump Round 1 Birdies
Over/Under      1 birdie
I know absolutely nothing about golf scoring but 96 strokes in one round does seem a trifle excessive to me. I think that the odds makers are telling Kai Trump that she sucks without telling her that she sucks.
Kai is also supposed to play golf for the University of Miami in the fall. Again, we have no evidence that she’s a good player so far. But in all fairness if she’s trying to compete with professionals when she’s brand new at the game, then it would make sense that she’s not ranking so high.
Things happen backwards in Trump world. The rest of us devote ourselves to something and if we have some actual ability for it, then we decide to pursue it professionally or at least at a dedicated hobby level. If you’re a Trump you just decide that you’re at the top of any game and so declare.
Let’s see how she does. Maybe if she does wash out and badly it will be a cautionary tale and she won’t get into tournaments or situations in general which are way beyond her capacity. Or she may be too much like her grandfather and have no judgement in that area. Let’s see if she loses gracefully or begins talking about cheating and fake news right out of the gate.

I mentioned this recently. There’s white privilege, rich white privilege and TRUMP privilege which dwarfs them all. She got a sponsor’s exemption which in and of itself isn’t unusual. However such exemptions typically go to people who’ve had some success on tour AND who have a degree of popularity. Perhaps they’ve been going through a rough year or two for whatever reason but they’ve at least had top 100 or better rankings for a while at some point.
Kai Trump is in fact popular on social media but when it comes to her junior golf career she’s no Charlie Woods. (Tiger’s son) Her problem is that all that in REAL golfing events (not just club events at Trump courses) she can’t get away with the cheating methods her P.O.S. granddaddy has taught her. No “mulligans”, no “foot wedges” (nudging if not outright kicking your ball out of the rough or other troubled lies like divots), no “gimmee” puts puts from four or five feet away. This is a stroke play event. In match play competitors can ‘give’ an one or two foot putt with no break to a competitor but in stroke play even if the ball is just a few inches away you have to putt it into the hole. No scorecard fudging either. Players keep each other’s score and when you sign your card your signing for what a competitor recorded. If there’s a question you go over it with them and resolve it but no one is going to give her a break and lie because of who she is. If TV cameras or even someone with their smartphone had a video record of what went down on that hole both Kai and the gal who went along with the cheating would be disqualified on the spot. And if Kai was seen to be doing any of the other stuff I mentioned again, she’d be disqualified on the spot.
So she has to rely on talent and execution of each shot just like everyone else and while she’s had a flash or two of being potentially an ok golfer someday her junior ranking is if memory serves down around 460 in the U.S. Add in amateurs from the rest of the world and it would be down below 1000.
The Annika is a top event on a tough course and the galleries are huge. It’s a lot of pressure. WNBA baller Caitlin Clarke played in the Wed. Pro Am last year (she will do the same this week) and did fairly well. Certainly she’d have outplayed Kai Trump, or would if she was playing in the actual tournament. Golf seems to be Clark’s favorite non basketball sporting activity and she’s pretty good. She’s also got a stellar competitive (at the highest levels) career already and has proven she thrives under pressure in front of huge audiences.
I rather doubt Dozing Donnie’s grandaughter can hold up to a level of scrutiny she’s never experiences. What she SHOULD have done is what Clarke has done – play in the Wed. Pro-Am. She could still meet and mingle with the stars and hang around for the whole tournament. Even pick up tips on the practice range and putting green which LPGA players would have been happy to give. Well, not the South Koreans. Like Israeli Intelligence they take every bit they can from others but give back NOTHING.
However, while there are Trump supporting LPGA members this is a big tournament with a better than average purse AND a limited field. Trump’s granddaughter or no the fact is even those golfers will already know someone more deserving of Kai’s spot in the field and not be all that inclined to be helpful. The kid has pissed away a chance at some priceless instruction and starting of a mentorship with one or more stars. Being a limited field I’m not sure if there will be a cut after two rounds but I think with a hundred or so players there will be.
I don’t know I’d bet on her being last, but if I had a hundred bucks to gamble I’d feel safe in betting Kai Trump doesn’t make the cut once Friday’s play is done.
