The blame game is what happens after every election loss. Last night the loss wasn’t just any loss, it was a bloodbath. It was closer to a Red Wedding-level kind of an event than an election. This morning poor Mike Johnson could barely keep his voice from shaking. Won’t be long now, Mike, and you’ll be on the ashbin of history, a minor footnote, which is exactly what a person of your meager abilities merits. We do so hope you’ve enjoyed your time in the spotlight. Now of course with this election out of the way, next year’s midterms is the subject of laser focus. And the response from GOP pundits has been panic. If last night is the foreplay for next year’s performance, oh my gawd.

“Republicans can’t win without ‘big daddy’? Well, guess what? Then you’re going to lose forever because he can’t run again,” Megyn Kelly said on her podcast, according to the report.

Thank you Megyn Kelly for stating the obvious. Now the other thing that should come in after a comment like this is also the obvious, which if that the 22nd Amendment just suddenly vanished some day, fine. We have Mr. Obama in the wings, he’ll be happy to step forward and serve. Next.

“We got our a–es handed to us,” Vivek Ramaswamy, who is running as a Republican for Governor in Ohio, said in a video posted on X, Salon reported.

“There’s two key lessons for Republicans, listen carefully,” he said, calling affordability the top priority. “Number two, cut out the identity politics, it doesn’t suit Republicans, it’s not for us, that’s the woke left’s game, not ours. We don’t care about the color of your skin or your religion. We care about the content of your character, that’s who we are.”

Now this is drop dead hilarious. I didn’t know Vivek was doing stand up comedy these days. The content of the Republican character. That phrase meant something at one point, not in this day where Trump has obliterated the party and MAGA is the predominant characteristic.

“It’s like a funeral in here,” said Rob Astorino, senior political contributor for MAGA TV network Newsmax.

And it’s going to stay funereal. Steve Bannon said it best: “You can’t get the low information, low propensity voters to come out without Trump.” That’s the remark Megyn Kelly was addressing. And maybe Bannon is right. Then the only alternative for the GOP is to find it’s lost soul (pssst: pro tip, Trump sold it to Satan) and attempt to reinvent itself.

That effort should have been made prior to 2015 when the anti-Obama came down the escalator. Now you’ll find out the sad fact that work delayed remains work undone and the costs get greater the longer the work remains undone. You recall Lincoln’s quote: “You cannot escape the responsibility of tomorrow by evading it today.”

The GOP lacked the determination, the will and certainly the vision as to how to reinvent itself after the 2012 election. There was a vacuum of leadership and into that vacuum the Great White Replacement Theory Hope showed up in June of 2015, cheered on by paid extras. Politics as reality TV was born as a genre. And you know the rest.

America has paid a dear price for the Republicans’ abrogation of their duty and responsibility to themselves. Now they’re going to pay the price. With interest. It couldn’t happen to a more deserving bunch of irresponsible clowns.

  1. Can you just imagine the mindset that the only way they can win is if Trump is on the ticket??? Well, sorry Meg, he never will be again.

Now imagine in the post Trump world, once his corrupting influence has waned from repeated failures at the polls, the back stabbing, conniving and skullduggery, to become the “New Face of MAGA”, where a fleet of Greyhounds won’t supply the busses needed to throw each other under, the Republican Civil War will shatter the G.O.P., (Group Of Pricks) into warring factions with no hope of reconciliation, cohesiveness or victory.

They can’t even come to a consensus now, with Trump ordering them what to do, there is always a three week argument about how to do it, which is never resolved, so nothing gets done. Without Trump calling the tune, they will be lost on the dance floor, completely incapable of independent thought as well as no hope for reconciliation.

The party will scatter, and be no more.

…..and they will turn and point at each other and for once, be correct in their accusation. They will have no one to blame but themselves, and no one will be more deserving.

  2. That’s it, you know? The only way they can win again is if Trump is on the ticket. He is what gives them their super powers. Sure there are others who would like to continue where he leaves off. Sure there are lots of crackpot and tyrannical plans out there. But nobody can give them wings like Trump. None if the people he has around him are really popular, in fact most of them are repulsive, laughable, incompetent crackpots. Really, JD. Vance? Marco Rubio? Stephen Miller? Pete Hegseth? Pam Bondi? Tom Homan? Kristi Noem? Who am I leaving out?

  3. Without Dementia Donny, I guess they can always run on the record of their achievements.

Then Democrats won’t have to campaign at all.
