This is the best condensation of Donald Trump’s Palm Beach blast that you are likely to see. The most truthful one in any event. Trump didn’t actually come out and say “Let them eat cake,” but he might as well have. Let’s warm up with a famous quote from The Great Gatsby which will totally get you in the mood to deal with these rich assholes on their own terms. “They were careless people, Tom and Daisy. They smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess that they had made.” Are you on the right wavelength now?

We talk often about the next American Civil War. Maybe we should be talking about the next American Revolution. When you’ve got a big golden ballroom — but children can’t get WIC benefits and poor people generally can’t get SNAP, not to mention health insurance — then that’s the recipe for Bastille time.
Maybe the cri de coeur will be “storm the ballroom?” It could be. The ballroom, after all, will be much bigger than the main White House, twice its size in fact, so it will be a bigger target. And we could put up guillotines where those ghastly flag poles are, why not?
Finally, as JFK said: “Those who make peaceful revolution impossible make violent revolution inevitable.”
