Amidst some awfully big stories like Bolton being arraigned, Zelensky at the White House, and arrests at a protest at an ICE facility in Chicago it’s easy to lose track of smaller goings on. However they still matter and to paraphrase RFK the tiny ripples of hope legal wins by ordinary folks against Trump can build into a mighty wave. Sidney Reid fighting back against Trump and his U.S. Attorney “Judge” Jeannine Pirro will have Trump throwing ketchup bottles when he sits down for his burnt steak dinner tonight.

I mentioned ICE because although the alleged ‘victim’ of Ms. Reid’s supposed brutality was an FBI Agent the incident in question took place during an immigration protest in DC. As MSNBC reports Reid is alleged to have shoved Trumpty and Patel’s guy so hard his hand made contact with a cement wall and ‘sustained lacerations.’  Well, by God THAT kind of resistant to the Orange Painted Emperor simply can’t be tolerated. (Assuming any part of the alleged assault is true and that’s a bigly IF) Pirro, ever eager to please Trump so that one day he’ll dump ‘Melanie’ and make her First Lady sicked her prosecutors on Reid.

Three times, count em THREE Pirro attempted to get a felony indictment and grand juries said NO. Once had to be bad enough and you’d think Judge Box-O-Wine would have gotten the message after a second attempt and failure. But no, she tried again and didn’t fare any better. Three strikes and you’re out baby! Alas, this is immigration and a case right there in Trump’s DC backyard. Even Pirro had to know if she somehow eventually secured a felony indictment all the prior failures would lead to the case being dismissed by a judge long before it ever got to a courtroom.

Pirro wasn’t about to give up. She had a Trumpty to please so she tried an end-round. Instead of a felony charge, she’d go for a MISDEMEANOR charge which wouldn’t require a grand jury indictment.  Well, the jury reached its verdict and the case is now over. I’ll give you three guesses on how it turned out but given what you’ve already read you’ll only need one. Pirro LOST! Sydney Reid is free and both she and her lawyer had plenty to say after leaving the courthouse:

Powerful statements from Reid and her lawyers following the not guilty verdict frame the stakes in her case — and in Trump’s second term more broadly. She said the verdict “shows that this administration and their peons are not able to invoke fear in all citizens.” Calling the president “a crazy person,” she said she even felt sorry for the prosecutors, “who must be burdened by Trump’s irrational and unfounded hatred for his fellow man.” Her lawyers, Tezira Abe and Eugene Ohm of the federal public defender’s office, said the DOJ “can continue to take these cases to trial to suppress dissent and to try and intimidate the people. But in the end, as long as we have a jury system, our citizens will continue to rebuke the DOJ through speedy acquittals.”

I have a feeling Judge Jeannine is going to be needing more than ONE box of wine over the weekend. More like a case per day!  She knows how Trump feels about LOSERS and she’s lost bigly. Her only hope is that with everything else going on this will somehow not back to her Trumpty. Alas, she’s set herself up for another epic fail.

In addition to the Reid “case” Pirro went after the Subway Sandwich tosser. Remember that one? Sean Dunn threw what I guess for ICE Barbie is a “lethal” sandwich, a Subway Sandwich (I wonder…was it at least toasted so the outer crust was firm or a regular untoasted sub roll like I get when I order their tuna sub?) at a fully geared up agent. Kevlar you see can stop bullets, but is powerless to protect the wearer against a Subway Sandwich!  Anyway Pirro went after this guy like a rabid wolf too, and as with Reid couldn’t get a grand jury to indict on felony charges. So, she’s trying the same thing with Dunn. Reducing the charge to a misdemeanor and taking him to trial that way. In DC.

I wonder what will go through juror’s minds, and better yet what they will say when the judge sends them into their jury room to deliberate?  The only question will be how long they should wait to render their NOT GUILTY so that it looks like they took the bullshit case seriously. If they are sent to deliberate before noon they at least order lunch. They deserve a free meal for having to sit through Pirro’s nonsense. However, I think we can be certain of why this case is still active and  how it will turn out:

In another notable case, in which D.C. grand jurors refused to approve felony charges against sandwich thrower Sean Dunn, prosecutors are also moving forward with a misdemeanor case after failing to get an indictment. Ahead of his potential trial, this week Dunn filed a motion to dismiss the misdemeanor assault charge based on vindictive and selective prosecution.

Calling his prosecution “a blatant abuse of power,” his lawyers argued that the government “has chosen to bring a criminal case over conduct so minor it would be comical — were it not for the unmistakable retaliatory motive behind it and the resulting risk to Mr. Dunn.” They noted that he “tossed a sandwich at a fully armed, heavily protected Customs and Border Protection” officer, but they maintained that “that act alone would never have drawn a federal charge. What did was the political speech that accompanied it.”

The article goes on to talk about Dunn not being the only one to file a selective/vindictive  prosecution motion against the DOJ. Across the river in the eastern District of Virginia both Comey and James have or will be doing so. In fact if I’m not mistaken in Comey’s case it will come up next week. That particular district is after all known as the ‘Rocket Docket’ and for good reason. Pundits think there’s actually a good chance one or both cases will get dismissed on these grounds. In just indicted John Bolton’s case the jurisdiction is suburban Maryland next to DC  A dismissal on these grounds is we are told less likely.

However, if we see several dismissals of weak assed cases Trump is ordering DOJ to pursue  it will send a message around the country. Dean’s case will be particularly important because some  high profile dismissals (Comey, James) and HIM getting a dismissal could influence judges in cities where Team Trump is openly trying to provoke violence, eager to haul people they can’t deport into court.

I read earlier today Hegseth is likely to be the first Trumpie cabinet member tossed overboard. After the first of the year. Gotta make it look good I guess to  have him on the job for a year. Bondi has been talked about as being the first to do. For Trump, it won’t matter that he ordered her to press lame, unwinnable cases. Nothing and I mean NOTHING is ever HIS fault. At least not in his effed up mind.

Wouldn’t it be great to see Comey’s and James’ cases dismissed before Thanksgiving, and Dean’s too? If so I don’t think Bondi will last into the new year. Trumpty will be so furious at looking bad, as in powerless to punish his enemies by imprisoning them Bondi won’t get a chance to fall on her sword. Not that any other Trumpie could have done any better. I’ll bet like me you’d have no sympathy for Bondi or anyone else at the top of DOJ tossed under the bus. ETTD and every one of them should have known it when they went to work for  him.  Let’s hope one thing we can give thanks for come Thanksgiving is Bondi being trashed by Trump as he FIRES her.

  1. Hard for a drunk to think rational thoughts from the bottom of a bottle. Keep her. We need more middle fingers to these heartless morons.

  2. “(Assuming any part of the alleged assault is true and that’s a bigly IF) Pirro, ever eager to please Trump so that one day he’ll dump ‘Melanie’ and make her First Lady sicked her prosecutors on Reid.”

I’m guessing you’re being really silly with this because, if Pirro REALLY believes that–even for a second–she is even more delusional than Drumpf.

For starters, the woman is 74 years old. Drumpf only puts up with the over-fifty Melania for appearances since neither of them has anything remotely close to real affection for the other; if Drumpf weren’t currently degrading the White House, he’d be chasing whatever 20-something blonde would be willing to think he could do anything for her–hell, Drumpf would’ve probably dumped Melania if he’d lost in 2016.

Secondly–and worse for her–she was married. Drumpf probably has no concern about a woman having had multiple sexual partners before meeting him but “marriage” is a very public display of “another guy f****d me and everyone knows it” (well, there may be a few exceptions) and Drumpf would never want that. Well, unless, of course, there’s some kind of “power play” involved (e.g., his “fascination” with Princess Diana–maybe the only known person whose age, prior marital status and motherhood status Drumpf was willing to overlook).

    • Well of course it’s fantastical snark. That doesn’t mean Pirro doesn’t fantasize about it and I’m betting she does exactly that. People dream impossible dreams. Sometimes those impossible dreams are really stupid. But some folks, instead of wistfully accepting impossible dreams/fantasies are only that actually delude themselves into believing somehow they will come true.
