Words coming out about Petey Boy are not good. It seems the man is getting a bit, no, make that a lot, paranoid. Remember people being subjected to lie detector checks? He’s not keeping himself together well, and sometimes not at all. This is not a good sign for a man who’s called a meeting of ALL THE TOP BRASS IN THE WORLD. And there’s already been word that it’s for a speech on the warrior ethos and grandiose plans to completely upend everything the military does. So let’s find out what’s going on out of “public” view. Weekend Fox News co-host turned Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth is reportedly under fire from his own command, with some insiders describing him as “crawling out of his skin,” after just eight months of leading the Pentagon. “The defense secretary—who prefers the moniker ‘Secretary of War’—is being described by staffers as ‘manic,’ erupting into fits of rage and tumultuous tirades, the Daily Mail reported on Monday,” according to The Daily Beast. “They said Hegseth is becoming increasingly ‘obsessed’ with his own security and exhibits frenzied behavior, such as fidgeting and pacing during meetings.”
Ooookay now. Sounds like he needs about a gallon of valium. Just put an IV in his arm and feed it directly into his veins. If nothing else, he won’t be able to pace with it in. What the unholy hell is going on with this man, anyhow? Is he finally (ha) starting to crack under the responsibility? I know being a host on Fox “News” did *not* prepare him for this.
But just like all the other inept, gibbering idiots, he is who Trump wanted, and Trump happily pressured people in Congress (see: Republican majority) to get his appointment shoved through. People could scream Oh, HELL NO all they (we) wanted, but it wasn’t going to make a difference. Moving along now because otherwise this might become a Rant. Ahem.

And THAT is insanely ridiculous. He’s losing his mind, alright. Making impossible demands. Making everyone jump any time they see him. Wondering what in the hell he’s going to come up with next. Wondering who he’s going to *accuse* next. And then, there’s *this*. To close:
The Daily Beast reported that Hegseth’s “increasingly erratic demands” are manifesting in ways “that have played out in public,” including Tuesday’s upcoming mandatory in-person meeting of about 800 generals and admirals from across the globe, along with their support staffs. All are traveling to Quantico, Virginia, for what some have described as a “pep rally,” where Hegseth will share with them his concept of the “warrior ethos.” At that meeting, the Defense Secretary is also expected to share “grooming standards” with the top brass, according to Politico.
Now, this has been mentioned before, but still, a pep talk? WTF was he thinking? And all of a sudden, Trump wants to come. Oh, good, our top military people AND Trump? Security is a nightmare, even more so now. If Trump decides to speak, and we know he will, they’re going to get subjected to a long, wandering speech that only shows his slide into dementia, and the knowledge that this supposed president is a brainless idiot. Plus, he’s the guy with the nuclear codes! It’s embarrassing just to think about it.
Warrior ethos, grooming, and Trump. What a stupid use of everyone’s time and good grief, money. The top guys pulled away from their posts. A Secretary of “War” is spooked, losing his mind and his control. Let’s hope he doesn’t have a breakdown during this pep talk. And we can hope for a little pushback from someone in the top brass for this inanity. What an unwanted, superfluous, useless, worthless waste. Yet another low for our country and a mess of our operations all over the damn world.

Your description of Hegseth’s behavior and that from The Daily Beast are also reminiscent of stimulant abuse. Manic, paranoid, hyper. Coke? Methamphetamines? Maybe to counter excessive nighttime drinking? Just wondering.
That is *exactly* what I was thinking except it was so late at night that I couldn’t remember the names that you mentioned. Maybe his paranoia is about someone *catching* him doing drugs. Hmmm.

Supposedly he quit drinking when he accepted the position. He brings his wife with him *everywhere*. Maybe she’s riding herd on him and getting him to watch what he says, and make sure he’s keeping his promise. But the drugs? Yup.
Who could ever have predicted this? Hegseth seemed like such a well-balanced individual, admired by all for his empathy and wisdom. And now look at him.
This upcoming meeting reminds me of Trump’s vision of a birthday parade, only far less coherent and far more disruptive.
