I think we’re going to hear a lot more about and from her as time goes by. We now have someone else to partner with AOC to support us. The two of them are definitely a force to be reckoned with, both apart and together. Jasmine let loose with some very valid opinions on standing up and fighting. Jasmine vehemently spoke on the whole Charlie Kirk debacle, and right she was to do so! From AlterNet:

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) is going after House Republicans after many of them blamed Democrats for this week’s murder of far-right activist Charlie Kirk. As the Daily Beast reported Friday, Crockett went on “The Breakfast Club” to share her thoughts on the national climate in the wake of this week’s fatal shooting of the Trump ally and MAGA movement leader on a Utah college campus. Crockett had a lot to say about the rhetoric of her colleagues in the House of Representatives, and suggested they should clean their own house before pointing fingers at the other side.

Oh, touche! She is pointing out what so much of the news is avoiding. This was only an assassination in that he was specifically chosen and targeted. But that is in no way all of the story, and that needs to be pointed out and remembered. I’ve heard the gunman has been caught. And I heard he “confessed”.

But before crucifying Democrats, they should look at the young man and see what *he is*. It’s not so black and white as it’s being portrayed. What’s disconcerting is the words “this week’s murder”. (I am so, so tired of assassin and martyr, I could scream. I call bullshit. And etching sayings onto bullet casings? I call bullshit again. Denis showed us the mistake on this.)

“When we look at these mass shootings, most of them are linked to … Proud Boys or whatever,” she continued. “Every time you say white supremacy, they want to yell, ‘Oh, you’re race baiting.’ No, I am going on facts.” Breakfast Club co-host Charlamagne Tha God made the point that free speech can often lead to unintended consequences, and referenced a 2023 quote from Kirk that he delivered roughly a week after a school shooting in Nashville, Tennessee, in which he argued some gun deaths every year were “a price worth paying” to protect the Second Amendment. “We don’t get to determine the consequences of our free speech,” Charlamagne said.

Yup. And what really irks me? *Nothing* is being said about the killing of Evergreen High School students in Colorado. Nothing. It was reported and then dropped like a stone out of sight. These were *students* killed. Children! But it’s all about Charlie Kirk and his “assassination”. No, I don’t think we should call Charlie Kirk a martyr. He was an RWNJ who paid the price for his words. So?

“We do have free speech in this country, but are you free to say just anything and everything?” Crockett said in reference to Trump. “There are limits to all of our constitutional protections, as well as what kind of standard we are going to hold ourselves to, when you are sitting, say, in the Oval Office?”

WHAM. There ya go. There are limits. You cannot go out and kill someone because you don’t like what they said. That’s murder and revenge. It’s not Democrats, or antifa, or any of that crap. The young man now knows that. How he thought he could get away with it I don’t know. Unless he tells us, we won’t ever know. And how he got to that point, the same. Oh, mercy, I am so, so tired of this being in the news, and news, and ARGH.

Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that of all of the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thanks. Ursula
