Wait til you see this. Oh my goodness gracious, did he stick himself in a hole and is now trying to climb out. How can these people be that stupid when they’re in politics and should know better? Anything they say can (and will) be used against them. But politicians keep opening their yaps without *thinking* about what they are saying, and it comes back to bite them. Hard. From CNN:

House Speaker Mike Johnson on Monday attempted to clean up earlier remarks he made claiming that President Donald Trump had been an “FBI informant” in the Jeffrey Epstein case. “What I was referring to in that long conversation was what the (Epstein) victims’ attorney said,” Johnson told reporters. The speaker added, “I don’t know if I used the right terminology, but that’s common knowledge, and everybody knows that. So, this is much ado about nothing.”

Oh, he’s going to get mercilessly mocked about this. Guess what, Mikey? It’s not going to work. Open mouth, insert foot, up to the knee. We know what he said. He said it publicly. So, it’s out in the open, and all the walking back his remarks is going to land him in even worse trouble. I don’t think this will work, either. Deny, deny, deny. Dance around the original statement as rhetorical. Erm, no. It’s not going to work.

Some had seized on Johnson’s comments on social media, seeking to paint Trump as a hero in relation to the case that has seen heightened national political furor in recent weeks. Pressed by CNN on Monday on whether Trump had specifically told him about any involvement with law enforcement’s investigation of the late convicted sex offender, Johnson said he was “recounting what others have said” but that he and the president have spoken about “the Epstein evils many times.” Johnson, when asked, said he had no information about whether Trump had ever been asked to wear a wire.

Of course not. He’s not going to admit anything more in this debacle. He’s already in hot water for trying to say Trump was an informant; Trump wasn’t an informant. Trump *participated*. Sucks to be you, Mikey. As Speaker, you really should watch your mouth. This isn’t helping Trump *at all*. If anything, it’s making it worse. He’s in nearly as much (but not quite) trouble as Trump is. I do not feel sorry for him, especially when he’s gotten himself into hot water all on his own. Mikey needs to watch what he’s saying about his god, Trump.

Speaking with reporters at the Capitol last week, Johnson defended the president’s handling of the Epstein files and said he helped law enforcement in the case. Johnson on Monday indicated that House Oversight Chairman James Comer and committee members were planning to visit the Epstein estate in Florida to view visitor logs as part of their probe into the case. As CNN has reported, a bipartisan group of House Oversight staffers is expected to travel to New York City this week to meet with lawyers representing Epstein’s estate to view unredacted documents related to the case.

We shall see what happens. I don’t think any more information about Epstein is going to come out for now. It should be interesting to see if we hear anything further on this. It’s going to be deny, deny, deny. Tap dance around the subject. I hope Mikey is a good dancer. He needs all the help he can get with this. Sorry, not sorry, Mikey. Too bad.

Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that of all of the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thanks. Ursula

  1. Meanwhile, Massie’s “discharge petition” to force a House floor vote on the release of the Epstein documents is almost ready to launch; it needs just 1 more signature to reach the 218 required. That would be an end run around Speaker Johnson’s shameful blockage and a finger to the GOP-dominated Senate, which blocked a similar move from the Democrats. This sorry sleazy saga ain’t going away anytime soon.
