Someone is losing people left and right. Not all of them have been fired. Some folks have had enough and said, “I’m outta here!” But the one in charge apparently doesn’t care. A branch of our government is getting trashed. When losing people like this, a good, hard look is needed to see why we’re losing talent. They’re not thinking about that. From Politico:
The influential head of the Defense Innovation Unit — the Pentagon’s in-house tech incubator — abruptly stepped down on Monday, removing the last high-profile Biden administration holdover at the Defense Department and severing a key link with Silicon Valley. Doug Beck, a former vice president at Apple, said Monday in a goodbye email that it would be his last day, according to two people familiar with the matter. He did not provide any reason for his departure.
Oof. Now you see why Petey Boy has a problem. Not only is his paranoia getting him to fire too many people with knowledge needed, now it looks like others are leaving too. Doug didn’t provide a reason, so it looks like he had had enough of the bullshizzle. And the great staff members for the DoD continue to shrink, people that are sorely needed, but I’ll bet Hegseth doesn’t see that. He tries to control everything, so he’s not in control of anything.
The Pentagon has appointed temporary leadership, said one of the people, who, like others, was granted anonymity to discuss staffing information not yet public. The Defense Department and Beck did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
No kidding. Beck just wants the story to go away. He doesn’t want anything to do with the Pentagon now. The Pentagon has nothing to say because there isn’t anything to say. They don’t want to admit to failure of any sort. They failed when they lost him. We all knew that Hegseth would be a disaster if he got confirmed, and we have been proven right. Looking good on TV is not a qualification to run the DoD.
Beck’s departure comes just days after Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth removed three top military officials: Defense Intelligence Agency chief Gen. Jeffrey Kruse, Navy Reserve chief Vice Adm. Nancy Lacore, and head of Naval Special Warfare Command Rear Adm. Milton Sands III. Air Force chief of staff Gen. David Allvin on Tuesday also announced his surprise retirement, less than halfway into his four-year term in the service’s top military job.
Ouch. Bleeding talent. Paranoia reigns. Maybe that’s why he’s firing all those people. Heaven forbid something happens with our DoD, now woefully under-prepared. Now it’s disturbing, without people who know what they are doing. He won’t listen. Petey Boy doesn’t trust anyone who knows how to do their JOB. And is doing so, screws up his job worse. All we can do is watch in horror.

This is what happens in kakistocracies. The incompetent morons are there because they’re not a threat to Dear Leader, and once installed they need to get rid of anyone who is a threat to themselves. i.e. Anyone with competence.
This culling of competence can take quite a while since the organization concerned has been running on ‘promotion by competence’ for hundreds of years so there is a very large amount of competence extant.
If we’re lucky, the kakistocracy can be removed before too much damage to competence is done, but one thing does characterize the incompetence of this regime. It is very fast moving incompetence. Maybe it will trip itself up in it’s haste?
