Some people just don’t know when to shut up, and make themselves look worse and worse every single time. They wonder why people get tired of them. But as long as they are pleasing one certain person, what does it matter? To them, nothing. To us, a lot. There’s no point in asking them to shut up and think first. It will have the opposite effect. So we get to suffer in silence, because it’s bad either way. From AlterNet:
White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller lashed out at Washington, D.C. residents protesting President Donald Trump’s takeover of the Metropolitan Police Department and his deployment of more than a thousand federal agents — including FBI, DEA, DHS, ATF, and ICE — to patrol the Capital’s streets. In striking remarks, Miller cast the demonstrators as white and the victims of crime as Black. His charges conflict with a new survey just released that shows the vast majority of D.C. residents oppose the Trump administration’s takeover and feel safe in their neighborhoods.
Okay, now, isn’t that backwards for him? Usually, it’s people with any color to their skin vs white people – but in this case, it’s white people who are the “bad guys”. Whaaat? Did someone put happy pills in his Wheaties? This certainly doesn’t sound like the usual Stephen Miller nonsense. It’s still nonsense, but from the flip side. Heh, I’m not sure I understand it!
Miller told reporters that the people protesting the Trump administration’s federal takeover of the city’s streets are “elderly white hippies,” “stupid white hippies that all need to go home and take a nap because they’re all over 90 years old,” and, “crazy communists” who “have no roots, they have no connections to the city, they have no families they are raising in this city, they have no one that they are sending to school in this city, they have no jobs in this city, they have no connections to this community at all.” Those people, Miller alleged, are “the ones who’ve been advocating for the one percent: the criminals, the killers, the rapists, the drug dealers.”
And again, I say whaaat? They don’t have families either? Or at least Stephen thinks they don’t. Plus, 90-year-old people protesting? Huh? Riiight. I think not. I think there are people of all ages and colors protesting, if they don’t have to hide from ICE-holes. Now, that’s not a diss about 90-year-old people, so don’t jump on me. I’m somewhat younger than that, and I have trouble getting around.
“This is not a city that has had any safety for its Black citizens, for generations,” he claimed. “And President Trump is the one who is fixing that with the support of the Metropolitan Police Department to support the National Guard and our federal law enforcement officers.” “So, we’re going to ignore these stupid white hippies that all need to go home and take a nap because they’re all over 90 years old, and we’re going to get back to the business of protecting the American people and the citizens of Washington, D.C.,” Miller said. “On Monday, Trump said Washington had been ‘the most unsafe place anywhere,’ but 78 percent of residents say they feel very or somewhat safe in their neighborhoods,” the Post reported.
WHAM. Stephen needs to get his facts straight. He won’t because he never admits he’s wrong. It’s still strange that he has completely reversed himself on his usual racist rants. Ah, well, the more things change, the more they stay the same. Another day, another Stephen rant.
Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that of all of the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, with the exception of one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. What’s wrong with 90 year-olds protesting? Most people over 70 keep saying they didn’t think they’d still be protesting now, but our democracy is at stake. I’m 88 and take part in one or two each week. Our extreme summer heat keeps me from doing more. Last night was a huge packed rally in K.C. to protest Missouri’s idiot legislators trying to illegally draw new congressional districts.
