The Ministry Of Truth is here. It may have started out as a concept in a dystopian science fiction book, but it is here now. The numbers are whatever Big Brother and his cronies say that they are. And now that Trump has put his newest appointee at the top of the Bureau Of Labor Standards, get used to hearing some wild numbers — or no numbers at all. That was E.J. Antoni’s first suggestion, that the BLS just stop issuing monthly reports. It goes along with Trump’s idea about not doing COVID testing. You don’t know what’s going on, you can’t get upset about it, right? Here is Noem’s contribution to chaos and disinformation for today.
“In less than 200 days, 1.6 MILLION illegal immigrants have left the United States population. This is massive. This means safer streets, taxpayer savings, pressure off of schools and hospital services and better job opportunities for Americans,” Noem wrote in a social media post thanking President Trump.
Thanking Big Brother is the first thing you do. Watch for it to happen on a daily basis now. And those job opportunities are just booming. Yassuh. You want to scrub toilets in a hotel or pick crops, you can get one of those jobs today. And you could have always gotten one of those jobs but we won’t talk about that part. The hope is that people will believe that they can now go out and get a management-level job with great benefits and a pension, which was closed to them previously, but now that illegal immigrants have been banished, they should be able to walk right into one. And of course it gets worse.
The claim, the Department of Homeland Security said, is based on a report from the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS), which describes itself as a “low immigration” advocate.
CIS identified several “caveats” to its estimate, which it said is based on immigrants’ willingness to respond to the Current Population Survey (CPS) crafted by the Census Bureau and U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, which CIS said “does not specifically identify illegal immigrants.”
“Given the recent stepped-up enforcement efforts, it is possible that immigrants have become more reluctant to respond to the CPS,” the report states.
“If this is the case, then our estimate of illegal immigrants based on the survey may be overstating the decline in their actual numbers. Further, our estimate of legal immigrants based on administrative data through July of 2025 is incomplete, further increasing uncertainty of our estimate of illegal immigrants. All this should be kept in mind when interpreting the figures presented here.”
Estimates of the number of people unlawfully living in the U.S. typically hover around 13 million.
The 1.6 million estimate from CIS would also represent a sharp jump from the Department of Homeland Security’s previously released figures, as it has touted both deportations and voluntary departures.
The Trump administration said in April that it had deported 135,000 people, but that figure has also come under scrutiny, with the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC) saying the figures were “gross exaggerations” and that deportation figures at the time were actually around 72,000.
TRAC also said immigration judges this year have ordered just more than 360,000 people to be deported, though it’s unclear when those removals will be carried out.
Holy DOGE, Batman! 72,000 and 1.6 million is quite a gap. But hey, DOGE was going to save trillions of dollars and ended up wasting $21 billion and then Elon Musk has pretty much vanished from sight, not to mention Big Balls being gone as well. So the point of all this is rather obvious: Do we believe what comes out of Kristi Noem’s mouth? Or do we just listen to the propaganda and take it all with a pound of salt?
And the guess and the hope is that Americans will just lap all this up and believe whatever Donald Trump and his minions tell them to believe. How long can that last? How long can Trump claim that the economy is “booming” but there are no jobs? How long can he claim gas is less than two dollars a gallon — and people can see what they’re paying at the pump when they pump it? How long can people wait for dividend checks from all the massive amounts of money pouring in from tariffs — while they’re paying twice as much at Walmart as they paid last year for the same goods?
I guess we’re going to find out.
