She’s baaaaack! Nancy Mace has come back into public view for what could be termed a rocket ship of “already known to be” failure. You would think she would have learned by now. Well, she hasn’t. Let’s get started on this story, shall we? From AlterNet:

Early Monday morning, August 4, Rep. Nancy Mace (R-South Carolina) posted a video to her website announcing that she is running for governor of South Carolina. The “Nancy Mace For Governor” video contains a collage of Fox News appearances painting the GOP congresswoman as an aggressive fighter for President Donald Trump’s “America First” agenda and the far-right MAGA movement. Mace, with this announcement, joins a GOP gubernatorial primary field that also includes State Attorney General Alan Wilson, Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette, U.S. Rep. Ralph Norman (R-South Carolina), and State Sen. Josh Kimbrell.

What’s up with this? The field already has 4 candidates. And she’s throwing her hat into the ring now? Wow. This was not a good move. Anyone who has seen anything about her publicity stunts in Congress knows better than to choose her. Sure, her constituents might vote for her, but she’ll be one of many.

On the other hand, since I am assuming she’s going to resign from Congress, this is a golden opportunity for Dems to flip another seat. Make that flip two seats, since I would think Ralph Norman would also have to resign from his congressional seat. And wouldn’t that be nice? You know they are going to have to have special elections to fill those seats. This has some potential. Have some more Nancy:

Mace hasn’t always had the ultra-MAGA tone displayed in her campaign video. First elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2020, Mace was critical of Trump after the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol Building. And she bitterly clashed with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia), who attacked her as an enemy of the MAGA movement and called her “trash in the GOP conference” as well as a RINO (Republican In Name Only).

Ha. I had forgotten about that. What a good time to remind people of her flip-flopping! She is a publicity hound. MTG is not exactly the greatest example of Congress, but anything that takes down Nancy is a good thing. Nancy is drawing a lot of comments on Xitter, and they are not nice. This is even better!

How can this woman be so blind as to NOT see she is despised? All these things she does in Congress are pure (attempted) showmanship. They have nothing to do with the matters at hand. They are “give me attention, me, me, me!”  Ugh. It doesn’t work because other people in Congress know it! Marjorie Taylor Greene is one of those who know. So is Jasmine Crockett. WHAM.

Author Tony Posnanski told Mace, “Awesome! Cannot wait to see you lose.” In the UK, The Independent noted, “Trump’s biggest-GOP-critic became his biggest fan. He could lose her to a governor bid .” Radio host Heidi Harris commented, “I can’t even….This woman is a joke. No one needs someone who ‘leads with her heart.’ We need someone who leads with her BRAIN. ‘Rep. Nancy Mace announces run for South Carolina governor.”

Aw, yea. I am hoping that another candidate wipes her off the map. Then we would get to see her be just another person in South Carolina. She’ll have to work even harder to get attention. She’ll likely come up with something totally random that will be in the news for a day, and then drop out of sight. What a lovely thing that would be. See ya, thanks, bye, woman!

Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that of all of the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, with the exception of one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to keep going in our quest to tell the truth about Trump and see democracy survive. If you can help, please do. Thanks. Ursula

Um, not quite accurate there. While I’m pretty certain that South Carolina doesn’t allow a candidate to run multiple campaigns (and, most likely, it bars “spoiler” candidacies–you don’t win the GOP governor’s primary, so you run as an independent to keep your current job), there is no requirement to RESIGN until after the election is held and even then, a resignation may not be required until that next office’s term begins before your current job officially ends.

So, both Mace and Norman will be able to stay in Congress (officially, at any rate) until Jan 2, 2027 when their terms in the House will end. I just checked and SC has a weird official date for the start of a governor’s term–it begins the first Wednesday after the second Tuesday in January following the election (meaning, in this case, January 13, 2027).
