Trump is overdoing it just a tiny bit. Add in being erratic with what randomly comes out of his mouth, any time, anywhere, and you have a bad mix. This is unacceptable for markets because they have no stability, and that’s not a good idea. From AlterNet:
During Donald Trump’s first presidency, former GOP strategist Rick Wilson attacked him relentlessly. But six months into Trump’s second presidency, Wilson’s attacks on Trump and even more scathing. And the Never Trump conservative, during an early August appearance on liberal journalist Molly Jong-Fast’s “Fast Politics” vodcast, laid out some reasons why Wall Street and Washington, DC are filled with dread.
Heh. I wonder why. (Not serious about that, in case you were wondering.) Markets have been going up and down already from what’s been happening thus far. It’s going to get worse. That’s a bad sign for America and its “regular” people. Even MAGA will get hit by this. And I hope Trump loses money on all his stock, especially after the way he blatantly manipulated the markets to his benefit.
Wilson emphasized that Trump, by firing the director of the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) and moving forward with steep tariffs on a variety of countries, is creating major anxiety in both the financial markets and the federal government. Wilson told Jong-Fast, “It is madness, Molly. It is beyond the valley of madness. And nobody in Washington right now is waking up thinking, ‘Man, this is going to get so much better.‘” When Jong-Fast commented that the United States is “basically hurtling towards a cliff,” she got no argument from Wilson.
Ouch. OUCH. I would think Rick Wilson *knows* what he’s talking about. Remember, he was a strategist. He has to have his finger on the pulse of the US. We’ve already seen what the “government” is. We’ve seen people floundering in their positions, chosen for loyalty and looks. It’s a disaster happening in plain sight.
There are many people, both here in Pz and otherwhere that knew this sort of thing would happen. We were powerless to stop it, and some have been in mourning because of Trump’s win, but blogs like ours didn’t give up.
We, the people, knew what Trump was trying to do, sending the military in for the protests in Los Angeles. We knew what he was trying to do with his “birthday” parade, besides screw over the Army for a big day for *them*. The No Kings were organized and wiped out the “spectacle” of the parade. We have another protest coming up that I think will be even bigger. The markets aren’t seeing this and taking it into account. They are absolutely frightened.
Wilson added, “It’s actually made them more nervous about the future. And there are a lot of reasons to think that the market could take a very swift turn in the wrong direction for Donald Trump.” Jong-Fast interjected, “And the bad news is we’re all going to lose a lot of money” — to which Wilson jokingly responded, “Happy retirement, folks.”
WHAM. There ya go. They’re not going to get that good information about jobs. They’re not going to get solid information about tariffs. They’re not going to get firm information about the status of the United States. They’re panicking. At present, we can only watch … for now.
Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that of all of the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, with the exception of one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love.
