This will certainly not help Trump’s reputation as anyone who takes sex-trafficking seriously, indeed the more often it happens, the more Trump appears to be one who believes that anyone close to him deserves a pardon. Trump is considering pardoning the notoriously sketchy Sean “P-Diddy” Combs. Combs was convicted of two counts of transportation for prostitution involving his ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, and another woman, “Jane,” under the Mann Act, facing up to 20 years in prison. The Mann Act specifically prohibits trafficking women across state lines for illicit purposes. He was found not guilty of racketeering and pure sex-trafficking – but you know there is a ton of smoke there. Either way, there is nothing to indicate that Combs deserves a pardon, other than being close to Trump. There are, however, a few other considerations.

Again and again, Trump appears to simply sympathize or reward people close to him with pardons that nakedly flaunt the entire criminal justice system. A pardon is supposed to be an act of mercy, where the punishment no longer fits the crime, or new evidence arises, not a reward for “supporting” the man. One also wonders whether money changed hands. It is painfully easy now with crypto – untraceable money.

Donald Trump is heavily weighing giving Sean “Diddy” Combs a full presidential pardon ahead of the convicted Bad Boy Records founder’s sentencing later this year.
Nearly two months after Trump publicly entertained the notion of a Diddy pardon in an Oval Office gaggle, a comprehensive get out of jail card for Combs is being “seriously considered,” an administration source tells Deadline.
Just unbelievable, only not necessarily. Once again, it appears that Trump just doesn’t find sex trafficking and abuse of women to be a real problem. He is, after all, the only president to have a civil verdict against him establishing that he raped a woman. Basically, it means nothing to him or his supporters. Unbelievable.
There is one other consideration. It is possible that Trump knows this is totally indefensible and that it will spark outrage, but the outrage will at least not involve the Epstein files. The most salient fact about such an outrage is that the Epstein files have still not been released, other than small bits that do implicate Trump. We cannot allow our outrage to divert attention away from the most scandalous files – the ones that may well implicate Trump. It is possible to be angry at both, this feeds the latter.
It is equally true that Trump simply loves the pardon power. It is all on him, not a damn thing anyone can do – the closest Constitutional power to a fascist dictator, right there in the Constitution. One senses that Trump loves controlling lives. And never forget, Combs is an extremely rich man. We cannot count out the possibility that a lot of money changed hands in the transaction.
It is unbelievable, but it is also a diversion. Never forget, this does nothing to change the Epstein equation. Indeed, it actually demonstrates that Trump thinks moving women around for forced sex is just part of life, unworthy of official punishment. It would otherwise be jaw-dropping.
But it’s just what we’ve come to expect. Also jaw-dropping.
