Following Ursula’s column about her being fired, more news has come out about Ms. Comey. She reached out to her former co-workers with a message that had interesting overviews. Who could it have been aimed at? Let’s see what Politico had to say via Yahoo News:
One day after being fired by the Justice Department, Maurene Comey told her former colleagues that “fear is the tool of a tyrant,” appearing to take aim at the upper ranks of DOJ and perhaps the president, according to a copy of a message she sent to the Manhattan U.S. attorney’s office that was shared with POLITICO. Referring to the office’s longstanding motto of operating “without fear or favor,” Comey, who is the daughter of former FBI Director James Comey and who prosecuted both Jeffrey Epstein and his associate Ghislaine Maxwell, told her former colleagues in a note Thursday that “[w]e have entered a new phase where ‘without fear’ may be the challenge.”
Fear is the tool of a tyrant. It seems that this is exactly what Trumpolini is trying to do. He threatens tariffs. He has massive sweeps gathering up brown people, whether they’re illegal immigrants or US citizens. He got the Big Ugly Bill passed, cutting Medicaid and SNAP, which will increase the national debt by trillions within the next 10 years, because he wanted to make his billionaires’ tax cut permanent. That’s fear, indeed. Oh, and he’s started an investigation into her father, James Comey. Really?
Now the DOJ is firing people left and right, so Maurene is in good company. Why she got fired doesn’t make any sense, but then why expect sense out of Pam Blondi? She’s gotten rid of the people from the DOJ who prosecuted Agent Orange and the J6 trials, although some of them read the writing on the wall and left on their own. Bondi is now firing what seem to be random people. Shoot, I’m sure she had to dig to find out about the Epstein trial and fire the prosecutor who jailed Epstein and Maxwell. Maurene is the result. It’s *not* going to redirect MAGAts who want the files released.
“If a career prosecutor can be fired without reason, fear may seep into the decisions of those who remain. Do not let that happen,” she wrote. “Fear is the tool of a tyrant, wielded to suppress independent thought. Instead of fear, let this moment fuel the fire that already burns at the heart of this place. A fire of righteous indignation at abuses of power. Of commitment to seek justice for victims. Of dedication to truth above all else.” Comey didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
In her parting message, Comey wrote that during her nearly 10 years at the Manhattan U.S. attorney’s office, her goal was “making sure people with access, money, and power were not treated differently than anyone else; and making sure this office remained separate from politics and focused only on the facts and the law.” “Fear,” she wrote, “was never really conceivable.”
We don’t fear. We keep trying to overcome the crap. We write about it, and people protest about it. We don’t fear, and we will keep going.
