And a little child shall lead them

Well, it appears that El Pendejo Presidente finally got the memo. Maybe some young staffer drew little pictures of Thomas the Tank Engine around it. Trump came right out and told the media a day or so ago, President Putin is not being honest with me. Really? What was the clue that broke the case Sam Spade, the fact that your clothes all smell like vodka sh*t?

But that doesn’t mean that Traitor Tot has stopped sending Vlad the Imp little love notes, like his PDB. And he’s still trying to jerk around with military aid for Ukraine, while still looking like one of the good guys. And it’s here that he screwed up, in the best possible way.

Yesterday the Secretary General of NATO made a brief stop at the White House. A cup of coffee, a little nosh, and skritch Trump’s tummy to keep him happy. And it’s here that Donnie Depends made his big announcement.

A brief background. We spend billions of dollars a year on foreign aid, and some of that, especially for allies like the NATO countries is military aid. And not all of that is cash, a lot of it is physical aid, tanks, helicopters, guns, defense systems, ammo. And because we’re responsible gun owners, the equipment comes with an End User Agreement. The ally is forbidden by the terms of agreement in giving any of it away, even if it means getting laid.

The Emperor Numbus Nuttus administration has been coming under fire for delays and slow deliveries of aid to Ukraine. Here was Traitor Tot’s chance to get out from under, and make a quick buck too.

He announced that the US had come to an agreement with NATO for NATO to buy up to $235 billion in arms and systems over the next 10 years. But here’s the kicker. They aren’t actually buying new stuff, they’re buying the weapons and systems that we already gave them. And when they purchase it, it becomes theirs, and the End User Agreement is null and void.

The German Chancellor rolls a big shopping cart with $75 million in ammo, guns, anti air missiles, and armored personnel carriers up to the cash register. Trump rings it all up, Germany pays for it, gets a receipt, and it’s theirs. There’s no wait time for delivery. If they preplanned, the stuff is already crated and loaded, and pulls into Kyiv within about 36-48 hours.

This is a godsend for Ukraine. If they order from the US, it takes weeks, if not months for it all to be collected, crated, and shipped to Europe where it can cross the border into Ukraine. Here, it’s almost like Christmas every day for Zelenskyy, as long as NATO countries keep ponying up.

And if the NATO leaders are smart, at least smarter than Trump, which it’s impossible not to be, they make out like bandits. They make a few purchases, keep Ukraine kicking Putin’s ass, and then complain to Washington that their strategic reserves pile for ground conflict is depleted. The next thing you know, here comes a fresh package of military aid from the Pentagon to Germany, chock full of the good new stuff.

Putin must be going insane. North Korea long ago stopped sending him human,  cannon fodder to toss into Jkraine when it became clear that he was burning through them first to save his own troops. Russia is becoming an embarrassment to China, and Iran is too busy to keep sending him drones. He’s down to scrounging around in cold war era laagers for rolling stock like trucks and tanks, and half of those don’t work anymore. And here’s Volodymyr Zelenskyy about to start getting daily shipments of arms via UPS.

And although I have absolutely no doubt that the whole thing was unintentional on Trump’s part, because it required linear thought, it’s actually quite a nice solution. The US gets paid for the stuff we had given to our allies, Ukraine remains well supplied and capable of continuing to bloody Putin’s nose, and when our NATO allies run short, we ship them more military aid, which keeps the defense industry humming along. Everybody wins. Except Putin of course.

I thank you for the privilege of your time.

  1. Sorry, sounds too good to be true, given that it’s the Trumpler admin doing this. Something has to go wrong somewhere en route to Ukraine. I wish it weren’t so, I’d love for the dilatory West to have given Kyiv all it needed years ago, but reality bites: Trumpler and his gang of imbeciles couldn’t organise the proverbial piss-up in a brewery so I’ll believe this deal when I see it actually working. In which case I’ll be delighted to eat my hat.
