MAGA is furious with Trump, even if most of the fire is aimed at AG Pam Bondi. MAGAs will make all manner of excuses for their Orange Turd-God Emperor and when it comes to the kerfuffle over the ‘Epstein Client List’ or ‘File’ blaming Bondi is to be expected. The rationalization is that Trumpty’s trust in her was betrayed. More to my point for writing is that Laura Loomer has popped up again. We hadn’t heard much from/about her lately but she’s making hay now. The thing is there’s a reason she’s been out of the news, and going after Bondi so fiercely isn’t likely to get her back into Trump’s good graces!
Lommer is nuts. You can ask how the hell she ever got Trump’s ear in the first place but the answer is simple. Sixteen million followers of her ranting on Xitter is a big block of MAGAs and on the Epstein thing she’s singing their tune. Turning up the heat on the administration, if not Trumpty directly (yet) is a problem on top of Trumpty’s major Hegesth problem. He can’t admit having made a mistake hiring either of them. Their being in a couple of the most important jobs in ANY administration makes it worse.
Calling for Bondi’s head on a platter is more of a problem for Trump than dumping such an important person in the Cabinet so early. She was AG down in Florida and likely knows where a lot of Trumpian stuff is buried. She’s still young and if she’s fired her career will be in ruins. It’s not like MAGAs will sign up for some podcast she’d create. Nor anyone here on Politizoom and I include our conservative lurkers in that. (How bout it Mark?) Bondi doesn’t strike me as someone willing to fall on her sword for Trump and resign.
However, a lot of prominent MAGA voices are calling for Trump to get rid of her. That’s a sudden thing since she’d gone on record as having seen the “Epstein Client List”, even that it was on her desk at the time of one interview some months back. The lame excuses now proffered ain’t gaining traction. Add in Loomer who you and I are happy to ignore but tons of MAGAs just love and the whole thing makes Trumpty look bad. And he knows it!
The funny thing is that while Loomer once held significant sway with Trump as described in this article from Reuters tells us she fell out of favor. She was never a formal advisor or had WH credentials but kept getting in to see Trumpty over the objections of other aides. She did a lot of damage of course, but the main thing is that if Trumpty told gatekeeps to let her in what could they do? However something changed. Think about this: Trumpty decided she was too crazy to listen to!
So while Loomer could post on social media she found herself no longer able to get direct face-time with Trump. I’m sure it bugged the hell out of her but she figured given her following on Xitter Trumpty was hearing what she had to say. Still, as we know nothing has the impact of in-person chances to argue one’s views. Loomer could no longer get into the WH it seems so she resorted to something desperate – trying to crash Trump at a public event! Yep, as The Daily Beast tell us Loomer wanted some face-time with Trumpty so badly she tried to crash his Kennedy Center Presidential Box when he and Melania chose to attend Les Miserables:
Loomer was climbing a flight of stairs to the VIP section where Trump and wife Melania were set to watch the show, but she was stopped at the top. Loomer, the aide, and a Kennedy Center employee then argued for several minutes before a “furious” Loomer gave up and retreated, The New York Times reported.
For those of us who at times followed the train-wreck of a timeline it’s worth nothing (as the Daily Beast article does) Loomer and Trump had themselves a high profile dust-up over his accepting that jet from Qatar. She was quite open with her criticism and Trumpty gave her a dressing down during a flight on Air Force One. He must have really taken her to the woodshed because she issued an apology suggesting she should have kept her communication of her views ‘private.’
However the fact is her influence when she got to meet with Trump caused all kinds of problems. We all know he has certain traits. Two of them are being impulsive and for whatever reason when his ‘gut’ tells him he needs to do something going with with whatever the last person he spoke to suggested. Loomer would say to dump someone or not hire them in the first place and Trumpty acted on her advice.
It drove Susie Wiles and others nuts, but as I said Loomer wouldn’t have had the chance to give him bad advice he acted on if Loomer wasn’t able to contact him somehow to say she was there and wanted to see him. Trumpty told his gatekeepers to let her in and they had no choice. Until he decided to tell them DON’T let her in! So huge MAGA following or not Loomer got reduced to trying to influence Trump from afar. Bluntly put she was banished.
Going after Bondi there’s a hint of ‘Why would Trump listen to her in the first place?’ and while the average MAGA won’t pick up on that Trumpty sure as hell will. Trump generally doesn’t do subtle. Nuance is normally lost on him BUT when it comes to criticism or slights he can spot it like a bloodhound picking up a scent. So the bottom line is that if Loomer has been hoping to be allowed back into Trump World, to be able to get in to see him and cause him even more trouble from where I sit she just blew it.
Dare we hope her banishment is truly permanent? I’ll take what I can and seeing her get trashed by Trump would be fun. Alas, Bondi finding a reason to open up an investigation into Loomer is too much to hope for. But it would be entertaining as hell!
