The war in Iran is about to escalate. That’s a dead certainty, we just don’t know the details. Right now the parliament of Iran has voted to close the Strait of Hormuz, the Iran International account on Twitter reports. “Iran’s parliament has approved a measure to close the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, a key global oil shipping route, following US strikes on Iran’s nuclear sites, state-run Press TV reported on Sunday. Major General Kowsari, a member of the parliament’s National Security Committee, told state media that while the parliament has reached a consensus in favor of closing the strait, the final decision rests with Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, the country’s highest security authority.”

J.D. Vance has been nattering on American TV about how our war is not with Iran but rather with Iran’s nuclear program, which is sheer gibberish and Marco Rubio, (both the Secretary of State and Acting National Security Advisor, and in his spare time Director of USAID) nattered away as well. “Why would you bury –– why would you bury things in a mountain, 300 feet under the ground? Why do they have 60 percent enriched uranium? You don’t need 60% percent enriched uranium. The only countries in the world that have uranium at 60 percent are countries that have nuclear weapons, because it can quickly make it 90. They have all the elements they have. Why are they –– why do they have a space program? Is Iran going to go to the moon? No, they’re trying to build an ICBM so they can one day put a warhead on it.”

This was in response to the ever present question put to Rubio, was Iran, in fact, close to building a nuclear bomb or not? Trump has decided yes, so we’re in the mess we’re in now, and that’s why the question kicks over to Twitter, if Trump is going to send other peoples’ children to fight a war in the Middle East, will that include his son, Barron?

Is MAGA enough behind Trump to welcome a draft to fight a foreign war? I don’t see how that’s possible. And wouldn’t that be the ultimate irony if the No Wars *president* ended up starting the conscription process? The last draft call in this country was December 7, 1972. Could Trump actually get it started again? And will every MAGA male under the age of 26 happily jump into uniform, at Trump’s command?

We will soon find out. This administration is flying blind. Just go listen to the clips of J.D. and Marco from earlier today. They sound like lost souls parroting platitudes and hoping that people believe them. And there is no way that we narrowly have a war with Iran’s nuclear program and not the people of Iran. That is sheer idiocy.
