Minnesota Shooting Suspect Captured. Thank you, CNN! That was some impressive work on the part of the police. We should be so, so proud of them. They caught him in an estimated day and three quarters. It wasn’t even quite two days. Not even two full days!

CNN was provided this information, which was originally from AP.  It seems to have first been reported at approximately 10 pm Eastern. The time stamps are a little odd. CNN hasn’t updated them yet.

Vance Boelter, the suspect in the assassination and attempted assassination of two Minnesota lawmakers, is in custody, according to The Associated Press.

Boelter is accused of the targeted shootings killing Democratic lawmaker Melissa Hortman and her husband and injuring Minnesota State Sen. John Hoffman and his wife early Saturday morning. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz said Saturday the shootings appeared to be “politically motivated.”

My goodness, what a relief! I’ll bet they will be taking a hard look at his supposed security company. We don’t know if he might have had help. That’s the next question to be answered. Let’s hope not. If he did, there’s no telling where they are anymore.

The man had multiple vehicles and managed to impersonate a police officer well enough to get inside the home. That means some serious studying. He had to watch the police enough to seem genuine. That might be something else to be considered. How and where could he do this? Yes, there are more questions to be answered. Here’s a little more from CNN about the press release:

Boelter, 57 years old, had worked for a security company, Praetorian Guard Security, according to a law enforcement official.

Boelter said in an undated video posted to social media that he was working for two funeral homes to pay the bills. The owner of one of the funeral homes, Metro First Call, told CNN Boelter was employed from August 2023 to February of this year, when he left voluntarily.

There’s more information about the suspect I’d like to include, because it’s relevant to the press release. It helps to explain a little more about the suspect. This was an update at the end of Day 2. It’s chock-full of the intelligence we had at that time.

Police found what they believe is another possible hit list with more than a dozen potential targets following a Saturday search of a home associated with the suspect, according to a law enforcement official briefed on the investigation. The suspect had left behind an initial apparent hit list of approximately 70 people in his car after exchanging fire with police outside the home of one victim and fleeing the scene early Saturday morning.

Boelter, sought by authorities for allegedly shooting the Democratic lawmakers while impersonating a police officer, worked for a security company that advertised a fleet of “police type vehicles,” and other equipment that could potentially have aided him in appearing to be law enforcement. David Carlson, a friend of Boelter, told CNN affiliate KARE the suspect texted his friends the morning of the shootings to warn them he was “gonna be gone for a while” and “may be dead shortly.”

Remember what I said about masquerading as a police officer? You have it right there. Just look at the description in the second paragraph. Yikes! I looked through more “newsbreaks”, short updates provided by CNN, and there’s not much more to provide besides the usual things you’d expect. However, let me start to close with one more quote. You’ll understand why after you read it.

Minnesota Rep. Leigh Finke hopes — though she doubts — Hortman’s killing will serve as a wake-up call to the dangerous path the country is on: a growing “climate of fear” surrounding those who speak up for other people’s rights.

Indeed. Indeed. No Kings Day showed “of the people, for the people”; we did speak up for the rights of others. It’s a great start. There *is* a growing climate of fear in our country. Some of it is being stoked by our own sorry excuse for a president. He cares about power. He doesn’t give a damn about the country. So, he uses the military as his own peace-keeping force, which isn’t needed, when it isn’t that way at all. Yet, No Kings.

But, because it’s *much* more positive, the suspect has been caught, and in a record amount of time. I am thrilled for the police force that didn’t give up. They checked every clue and followed every lead they could. Now he is behind bars. I say good! May he rot there. A lot of politicians must be heaving a huge sigh of relief. Thanks for sticking with me!

  1. It’s been a harrowing couple of days here in the Twin Cities area. I’m greatly relieved that they caught the suspect. It was the largest manhunt in Minnesota history, coordinated among local, state and federal law enforcement. We are mourning the loss of our state Speaker Emeritus Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark, and we are holding state Senator John Hoffman and his wife Yvette in our prayers as they heal from being shot multiple times. We await the coming trial of the man who committed this unspeakable act. Our wannabe dictator DJT did not pull the trigger, but he is wholly responsible for cultivating an atmosphere of hate, division, retribution against perceived enemies and despicable political discourse. To my knowledge, tRump has not said word one about the murders/shootings because he couldn’t care less about any of it. Tragic to have such a leader of our nation. NO KINGS indeed!

  2. From near the Twin Cities…the local news stated ONCE “Law Enforcement work in pairs. Do not open the door for an unaccompanied LEO, call 911 instead” I think this specific statement should be repeated often. It is a shame that Mrs. Hortman did not know this advice.

  3. It’s good that this maniac is under wraps, but what about the next one, or two, or ten? This guy is not an anomaly; he’s one of thousands that this president has radicalized to hate anyone who does not agree with him. Granted, not all are at this man’s level, yet. And most are limited to threats, but sure as the sun will rise tomorrow, this president’s rhetoric will have another ready to answer the call soon enough. Donald Trump is the enemy of America, not its savior.
