Ok y’all, there is so much news about the protests, it’s kinda hard to know which one to talk about. Except for the not-so-lovely governor of Texas jumping the gun, which is not surprising, cities are JUST SPLENDID with their *local* law enforcement.
Don Snoreleone is definitely pushing the envelope. He is most certainly using LA as a test for an excuse to invoke the Insurrection Act. Too bad LA doesn’t need military assistance, nor does anywhere else. We certainly could expect Texas to ride the Agent Orange bandwagon, and they did. To me, that should show a *lack* of faith in the part of law enforcement in that state. Alrighty, time for a quote or two. From CNN:
How they began: The protests in Los Angeles began on Friday after dozens of people were detained by federal immigration agents across different locations. The detentions hit hard for many in the city, long known for its diversity and large immigrant population.
What’s been happening in LA? Since Friday, protests have taken place, but only affected a part of downtown Los Angeles. In response to protest activity, President Donald Trump activated thousands of members of the National Guard on Saturday and later mobilized more than 700 Marines to the city despite local authorities objecting to their presence. There has been some unrest in a small part of the city, but local authorities have been quick to warn that those participating in unlawful activities will be prosecuted.
Yup, El Presidente Imbécil is trying to make things sound exponentially worse in LA than they actually are. Good grief! The man is flailing about overdramatically, just because he can. That phrase seems to be applicable a lot these days. Because he can.
The LA police ARE arresting people who become violent. They ARE arresting people who are looting. The ones who are behaving peacefully are, essentially, not being touched, although the tear gas seems to be a bit extreme for dispersal. They follow the directions of the police. The ones who are making the news are being arrested, and that action is what’s making the news, not them. Peace is not particularly newsworthy, or so they would have us believe. This next part is a bit long, but I very much wanted to include all of it. Still from CNN:
Elsewhere: Protests against the Trump administration’s immigration actions are emerging in other major US cities.
They include:
New York: Large crowds marched through Manhattan for hours on Tuesday. They remained peaceful for most of the day, but things escalated in the evening, with clashes between police and protesters who had gathered near the building that houses New York’s ICE office.
Chicago: Protesters also clashed with police in the Windy City on Tuesday. Videos showed tense confrontations between officers and a shouting crowd. Video from CNN affiliate WBBM showed a car plowing through the crowd, appearing to clip pedestrians holding signs and a cyclist.
In Texas: Protests popped up in several cities. Police in Austin declared a protest an unlawful gathering on Monday, later using tear gas and arresting 13 people. Dallas also saw a tense standoff between protesters and police on Monday. Meanwhile, in San Antonio, hundreds gathered outside City Hall on Sunday for a peaceful protest. But ahead of more protests planned this week, Gov. Greg Abbott announced he was deploying the Texas National Guard to several locations in the state.
San Francisco: Two immigration courts in the San Francisco Bay Area closed on Tuesday afternoon due to protests, according to a source familiar with the situation. Video from CNN affiliate KGO showed protesters outside the court, chanting on a picket line.
Denver: Anti-ICE protesters gathered in Denver, Colorado, and marched along thoroughfares, with police eventually blocking streets behind them, according to the AP. A spokesperson from the Denver Police Department told CNN 17 people were arrested yesterday.
Other cities: Other protests have also taken place in Santa Ana, Las Vegas, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Milwaukee, Seattle, Boston and Washington, DC.
Yes, the protests are spreading. I expected that. and I hope you did, too. I’m thinking about the ones yet to come, and those are going to be *massive*, against Trumpolini’s stupid military parade. We just won’t get into my opinion of that. The others on Pz have already handled it.
You see that the vast majority of the protests *were* peaceful. That’s a big deal. The majority are peaceful until a couple of handfuls become idiots. I kinda wish all of us could take part in the protests on the 14th. It would be super interesting to hear from you about it, instead of watching it from afar.
I haven’t decided whether I’m going to try and watch Pope Leo or the protests. I want to watch Pope Leo because I would swear he deliberately set it up to be opposite Trumplethinskin’s ego-boo, but the protests would be fascinating. Or, I would just watch the latest eruption of Mount Kilauea on YouTube. It’s very soothing. Thanks for sticking with me!

Zoomers, if you can help the Little Political Blog That Could keep trekking through cyberspace, we would appreciate it. My medical issues are still ongoing. I need to have a minor operation to remove a skin tumor. The hits just keep on coming, like a ’50s radio station. Thank you for all you do. Ursula
