This would be a great thing if it came to pass. In fact, it might even be something that would make Trump look good, in which case he will do it without hesitation. Kristi Noem made a laughingstock of herself last week when she didn’t know what the definition of habeas corpus was. Senator Maggie Hassan (D-NH) asked Noem to define “habeas corpus” during a Senate hearing on May 20. Noem’s asinine reply was that it was the “constitutional right that the president has to be able to remove people from this country.”
That is a ludicrous response from anybody but most particularly from the head of Homeland Security, who is in charge of removing people from this country. Senator Hassan then explained to Noem that habeas corpus is the latin term for “produce the body” and it represents the legal concept that it is fundamental to our Constitution that the government not pick up or detain anybody without due process. In all events, Noem fell on her butt that day (and subsequently as people kept laughing at her) and so she may not be long for her job — if this “insider” information is true. I submit it here for your consideration with the caveat that I have not been able to independently verify it elsewhere. (Fast forward to 11:00)
Maybe Stephen Miller, who is no constitutional scholar himself, felt embarrassed by Noem’s fumbling and bumbling. Noem is the frontwoman, the one who does the photo ops, but it’s no secret that the *brains* behind the deportation frenzy in this administration is Miller. He’s a Jew with a Nazi core, go figure that one out.
Now Trump is surrounded by idiots, so why would he make an example out of Kristi Noem? Good question. I call your attention to Michael Waltz. At the time the SignalGate scandal broke, it was absolutely predicted that Trump would can Waltz. He did not do so at the time because he didn’t want to “give a scalp to the media” as it was put.
But time went by and lo and behold, suddenly Waltz is now the Ambassador to the United Nations. So it is completely possible that Noem, at some point, will find herself playing musical chairs within the Trump administration. In fact, I would say it is probable.
And who would replace Noem as the head of Homeland Security? Maybe Nosferatu Stephen Miller. He would kill for the job and he’s running the department anyway, to all intents and purposes. Or, maybe Trump will try to find another woman who can wear a tight sweater and a Rolex watch in a photo op with tattooed prisoners behind her on shelves, just like in the concentration camps.
One thing is not speculation and that is that Trump hates people who create bad press. That is the single most important thing in Trump world, don’t make the boss look bad. And Noem makes herself and this administration look laughable each and everytime she opens her mouth.
Maybe she’s on her way out. Waltz may have been the first but he will not be the last to be relieved of duty and reassigned elsewhere. But whatever happens, don’t look for it to happen quickly. The modus operandi of this administration is to save face and work furtively at all costs.
