Well this is interesting. Senatorial waste of space (his skill is blocking critical stuff even fellow Republicans want) has a nice, safe Senate seat. Apparently he’s no longer enamored of Washington, DC however. College football coaches aren’t damn near universally worshipped there. And people, even Republican politicians get on his case all the time, and worse make fun of him! Well, having had a successful stint as head coach of Auburn University ole Tommy seems like a shoe-in if he runs for Governor down there in ‘Alabamy’ so it seems that’s what he’s doing to do.
According to Newsweek come next Tuesday Senator Tub-O-Lard as I call him intends to announce his intent to become Governor Tub-O-Lard. I’m betting Senate Republicans are knocking back the good stuff tonight toasting this bit of news. Tuberville might not have challenged Ted Cruz for the title of most hated Senator but I doubt there’s anyone in the Senate that will miss him. For Republicans it’s not like they have to worry about a Democrat winning a Senate Race in Alabama!
Ok, so you’ll throw Doug Jones in my face. Jones faced a unique set of circumstances. Even in Alabama a dude who preyed on younger teenage girls was too much for just enough voters there. Jones they figured would be gone soon (he was filling out someone else’s term) come the next election. Or maybe it was those pictures and the short video clip of Roy Moore prancing around a stage with that leather vest (pants too?) waving that little silver revolver that did it. Really. I’m sure lots of the good ole boys (and gals too) in a ‘god fearing’ state like Alabama thought he looked like he was trolling for a partner in a gay bar!
In any case after Jones’ too short tenure things returned to form (I refuse to use the word normal) and Jones lost to…Tommy Tuberville. Now Tommy had left behind some scandal ridden years as Auburn’s head coach. However he also left behind a legacy of glory for the Auburn Tigers. (FYI the official mascot is Aubee the Tiger – “War Eagle” is the fans of Auburn’s ‘battle cry.’)Â That was more than enough, and would be for another Senate run against ANY Democrat down there.
Still, football is religion in southern states where it’s said the top two sports are College Football and (college) Spring Football. Nothing else comes close. So Tuberville wants to be in a place where he can soak up some of that love from his football coach days. With people already lining up behind his candidacy for Gov. it’s pretty much a lock:
Club for Growth PAC endorsed Tuberville in the governor’s race this week—if he runs—and the PAC’s President David McIntosh said: “Coach Tuberville has been a steadfast leader for commonsense policy reforms in the United States Senate, and would champion fiscal responsibility, school freedom, and tax cuts in Montgomery.”
That I’m sure is just for starters. Tuberville has been a staunch supporter of Trump including the tariffs. By next year when the full force of Trump’s mess is being felt I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised to see Tuberville go along with quiet requests from Majority Leader Thune and others to resign after his seat early to concentrate on his campaign. It would allow the GOP nominee to run as an incumbent. For that matter if a clear consensus candidate emerges before the primary Tuberville could leave the Senate even earlier. Mentions to him about the “love” he’ll get doing campaign events will I think do the trick.
This all won’t be ‘official’ until next Tuesday but from the linked article it seems like a done deal. Tuberville will leave the Senate for the Alabama Governor’s mansion. I say good riddance, as will every Democrat and damned near every GOP colleague in the Senate. Alabamans can have him. And the small tub of LARD that occupies the space where his brain should be.
***Zoomers, we are always in need of donations. It’s been an especially rough month and my own health has not been great these past few weeks, which just adds to the frustration. Anything you can spare will be immensely appreciated. And thank you to all who have donated generously already. Ursula***

He’s equivalent to casting a vote for an empty football helmet sitting on the ground. To paraphrase all hat…he’s all helmet no brain.
You left out the fact that he apparently lives in Florida, having voted there. Candidates for Governor in Alabama must show they’ve lived there for the previous 7 years.
Well, it was known before he was elected Senator he didn’t actually live in Alabama and hadn’t done so for years. A workaround was done and the voters there were fine with it. And they’d STILL be fine with re-electing him Senator. If he has the support it looks like he will have I’m sure some electoral legal bullshit will be allowed. And voters will be fine with it. And also fine with him spending LOTS of time at his real residence, just like MAGAs are fine with Trumpty spending what, a third of HIS time at Marma-Lade-O. It’s the football thing. He coached Auburn during some glory years and that’s all that will matter. Also, I rather expect he’ll like living in a place with taxpayer funded servants, most of whom like the voters in general will view him and treat him like they would one of Jesus’ Apostles.
A land of morons deserve a moronic king and this pissant.
Yea. Shit for brains is leaving!!!
