tRump *really* likes playing games with the law. He’s found, at least for now, a way to have the US Military set up along the border. Ordinarily, that would be handled by the Border Patrol, but no, the military can now do it, too. What’s wrong with this picture? There are laws in place that say “you can’t do that,” except now they are. Damn.
A narrow strip of federal land along the southwestern US border has been designated as part of an Army installation, potentially allowing troops to take on a more direct role as part of the Trump administration’s crackdown on migrants. President Donald Trump transferred control earlier this month to the US military, which lays the groundwork for soldiers to search and detain migrants as trespassers in the militarized border zone.
Their view now includes buildings, walls, and barbed wire. And it’s *close*. They sent me pictures as proof. It seems Agent Orange has as much of a thing for the border as he does for Harvard, and that’s scary. However, there are a few problems with this plan. Let’s take a look.
Defense jurisdiction over the Roosevelt Reservation, a 60-foot-wide stretch of federal land that runs through New Mexico, Arizona, and California. The Department of the Interior previously maintained the nearly 110,000-acre swath of federal land before the “emergency withdrawal and transfer of administrative jurisdiction” on April 15. The order excludes the jurisdiction of “Federal Indian Reservations.” The Army requested the jurisdiction transfer to increase patrols by federal personnel and implement security measures and infrastructure to “curb illegal cross-border activities,” like illegal immigration and drug and human trafficking, according to a DOI statement.
Alrighty, that’s how they have been mobilized at the border. Seems pretty straightforward, right? Well, hang on to your hats because here we go!
Though thousands of military personnel have already been deployed to the southern border, the Posse Comitatus Act bars active-duty troops and federalized National Guardsmen from acting as domestic law enforcement.
The US military could be authorized to enforce civil or criminal law on US soil through the Insurrection Act of 1807, which provides a statutory exception to the PCA in specific circumstances of civil disorder or armed rebellion. To enact it to stop migrants, however, would be an extraordinary use of the federal law.
Since Border Patrol agents and civilian law enforcement are only allowed to apprehend migrants, the vast majority of troops deployed to the border have been tasked with “enhanced detection and monitoring,” Gen. Gregory Guillot, the commander of the US Northern Command, said.
BUT wait, there’s more!
Thousands of active-duty troops aren’t the only military assets the Trump administration is using to ramp up its crackdown. Two US Navy warships, several military aircraft, and over 100 combat vehicles have been deployed to support the Pentagon’s southern border operation. On April 1, Defense Department officials estimated the cost of militarization at the US-Mexico border since January 20 at roughly $376 million, or about $5.3 million per day.
$5.3 MILLION a day. This is just getting more and more ridiculous. And we get a president who PAINTS HIS FACE ORANGE, who has a “thing” for the border. The crossings have already slowed to a trickle. Why in the H*LL does he want to spend time and resources and money on the BORDER???!!!!! This is not what part of our military should be doing. The people already at the border were doing just fine. And if he thinks he’s showing the world what he can do, it won’t. Everyone knows he’s full of it. Everyone laughs at him and his chest-thumping, and they go somewhere else. And he’s playing with tariffs, too? Oh, lawdy.
*****And now, please be so kind as to read a very special request from our awesome boss******
Zoomers, we are always in need of donations. It’s been an especially rough month, and my own health has not been great these past few weeks, which just adds to the frustration. Anything you can spare will be immensely appreciated. And thank you to all who have donated generously already. Ursula

🤨✊️ Thank you so much, Susan for writing this story!! I live on this militarized border and each day there is more news about Trump destroying MY border! MY border in El Paso, TX is neighbors with Ciudad Juarez and we have a peaceful, loving neighborhood. That is bound to change as more troops are sent to find trouble. I am a half-mile from the actual border. I’m looking at it this moment from my back door! I can see Mount Cristo Rey, with its smaller version of Brazil’s Christ of the Andes on top. That statue stands where 3 states and 2 countries meet. The states are Texas, New Mexico, and Chihuahua, Mexico. I’m looking at it right now as a peaceful, beautiful, high-desert sunset is causing our mountains to brighten with a vibrant red-orange color!! And, We. Are. At. Peace.!! There is no invasion!! There are no hordes of dangerous criminals trying to murder us! These are our neighbors and we depend on them as they do on us!
But, Trump wants me to be living either in an expanded Ft. Bliss across a mountain range from where I sit or in Ft. Huachuca, AZ, which now stretches 170 extra miles and 100K more acres than it did a month ago; along the entirety of the southern NM border until it gets to my back door in TX!! Add 1000’s of heavily armed soldiers with the new, unlawful, law enforcement authority (orders?!) to stop anyone (and perform crowd control, meaning protests!) in that expanded Federal fort, whether Bliss or Huachuca, and things WILL go wrong! It is inevitable and it is the desire of the President!! 🤬🤬
Federal troops, ICE, CBP along with law enforcement very quickly get the U.S. southern border under control again after the bidumb regime PURPOSELY opened it for four years. So what’s the story here? Is it the fact that the left hates that?
So, what you are saying is, all you have is maga talking points and opinions. And rather than reading and comprehending the above article, you just want share these opinions and end with one of those baiting questions that people in the maga deception factory are good at asking.
The truth is out there, the facts are out there. When you choose to find only what reaffirms your negative opinion, it is not truth, it is not facts you seek, but justification for your opinion.
Reading comprehension is fundamental. Understand what is written without simultaneously planning a rebuttal.
And learn how to behave in polite company.
I’m quite confident in my reading comprehension thank you even if it is tested sifting through the dreck on this site, and I’m sorry, have I been impolite? You should see some of the things said about me on this site by the party of tolerance.
tested sifting through the dreck on this site —-
and yet you are here
I’m sorry, have I been impolite —
Is that an apology? Yes, you have been impolite
You should see some of the things said about me on this site by the party of tolerance.
So, what you’re saying is you don’t like to be treated the way you treat us.
How interesting.
I find it difficult to understand why you feel folks don’t have the right to respond.
Their responses are matching the energy you project..
You are facing the consequences for your rude, inaccurate comments.
Again, and yet you are here.
Yes, I am here. I’ve said before that I come here for entertainment, back & forth banter and tossed where the opposition stands on certain things. No that was not an apology, that was me being facetious. I’ve nothing to apologize for. Of course you or anyone can respond to my posts, I then respond accordingly. I speak to people the way they speak to me.
To see… not tossed
