Good for them, punching back! “Since February, Trump has signed executive orders targeting five law firms with punishments that included suspending their attorneys’ security clearances, terminating federal contracts, launching investigations of their hiring practices, and barring them from access to federal buildings.” He’s taking action against them because someone somewhere worked on a case against him. Just … more of the petty BS. It makes my mouth hurt because I grind my teeth together.
Has anyone noticed how old this getting? Just “Rinse and repeat”? I hope he gets writer’s cramp. My goodness, the man has too much time on his hands, while he doesn’t run the country because his loyal subordinates take care of things for him. Well, kinda. Two different places that had security leaks is not what I’d call helpful.
Here, have some more information: “The lawsuits by WilmerHale and Jenner & Block come weeks after Perkins Coie filed a suit after it was targeted by a Trump order. All three so-called Big Law firms claim in separate civil complaints in U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C., that the retributive orders are clear violations of the U.S. Constitution. Trump’s orders explicitly cited their employment of his longtime foes or their work on cases against him.” See? It’s more of his petty BS. Personally, I hope the law firms win. And if Judge Boasberg gets one of them, even better. We know he is a ‘bigly’ thorn in the administration’s side.
WilmerHale, in its lawsuit Friday, said that Trump’s orders are “an undisguised form of retaliation for representing clients and causes he disfavors or employing lawyers he dislikes.”
Jenner & Block, in its complaint, called Trump’s order against the firm “an unconstitutional abuse of power against lawyers, their clients, and the legal system.” “It is intended to hamper the ability of individuals and businesses to have the lawyers of their choice zealously represent them,” Jenner’s attorneys wrote. “And it is intended to coerce law firms and lawyers into renouncing the Administration’s critics and ceasing certain representations adverse to the government.”
They’re certainly right! This is pretty obviously retribution for perceived actions against Traitor Tot. The executive orders make them waste time and money fighting them in court. I don’t think that’s enough retribution to satisfy tRump. His Executive Orders are easy. To him, they’re a no-brainer. Actually, I’m not sure he thought through the effects of them – just wanted retribution against his perceived “enemies”. And this is our President? Not my doing. Others may still not have realized what they did when they put him back in office. They’ll find out what some of us already knew.
*****And now, please read a very special request from our awesome boss******
Zoomers, if you can find some spare change in the sofa cushions, we could use it. April starts soon, and that is month six of this depressed media climate we now live in due to Trump Depression Syndrome. We thank you for any help you can give, and most of all, we thank you for coming here to read. Ursula

I’m up later than I should be, but just saw where Doug Emhoff’s law firm has capitulated to Trump and cut a deal to avoid “The Wrath of Trump.” I can certainly understand why both Doug and wife Kamala have been keeping a low profile since the election. Democrats have had a lot to deal with and sort through and taking an active role, even behind the scenes would probably do more harm than good. It will take time to figure out how best Kamala Harris can help further the mission of the Democratic Party to protect and expand rights.
However, I think Emhoff’s hand is going to be forced on this. He HAS to make a statement denouncing this. First thing tomorrow!
How and why do these cowardly lawyers think their surrender will avoid the dreaded “wrath of Trump?” It will delay it, perhaps, but what then? Trump’s grudges have no bottom, so he’ll target those weaklings again, as soon as he feels nasty. He’ll demand they fire all attorneys he dislikes (ie fears) and pledge their legal allegiance only to him, but even that won’t be enough. He never gets enough.
Men usually care more about their pocketbooks than their principles. Emerson
Cowards made of putty. Hey Doug…come out loud or ask YOUR WIFE what she meant when she kept repeating fight fight fight. Given it was CLEAR Trump in power would be the end of the country we thought we knew…you democrats share responsibility because you couldn’t bring yourselves to get in touch with the reality and DO WHAT WAS NECESSARY TO STOP THEM. Remember Sean Connery’s question to Kevin Costner in the Untouchables, when discussing putting together a team to go after Al Capone? WHAT ARE YOU PREPARED TO DO???? In your case it was all talk. Now even Dougies law firm has no loyalty. Welcome to America. Money. The love of money is our national religion…we have become the example of Jesus calling the Pharasees ‘a den of vipers’. America…the mask is off. We are Babylon baby.
I say it’s time for state AGs to file charges of extortion on this admin. T is getting millions of dollars of free services by this protection racket. “Nice law firm you got there, be a shame if something happened to it…”
Also time for principled lawyers to leave the firms that cave and form new partnerships. Emhoff would be an excellent man to start this.
