Autos and auto parts now have a lovely tariff of 25%. Other countries are getting sick of this back-and-forth bull bullsh*t. Mexico is actually considering retaliatory tariffs on imports for its country. I was surprised by this. President Claudia Sheinbaum has finally had enough. She’s been very laid back and quiet about the tariffs nonsense – until she wasn’t. I *love* it!
And, of course, my favorite in the tariffs battle – Canada! Prime Minister Mark Carney said the tariffs were a “direct attack” in violation of the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement and that Ottawa would examine its options for a response, including possible retaliatory tariffs. Canada’s Cabinet Committee on Canada-US Relations convened a meeting this morning to discuss its options. The Prime Minister isn’t playing this game. They started to until agreements were made to remove the tariffs on lumber, steel, and aluminum. Those have been blown away in the wind of the Orange Baby Balloon’s hot air. I am *thrilled* by this!
You see, Agent Orange had agreed to withdraw tariffs under the US-Mexico-Canada agreement. He isn’t honoring that anymore – no surprise there. I would think autos and auto parts would have been in that agreement, but obviously, they aren’t now. He’s pushed our neighbors too far, and now he gets to reap the “benefits” of return tariffs. At this point, our prices continue to go up, and inflation is going up, so what will a few more price changes do to us? Make things worse, I would say. And the global community, except for Russia, has had enough, too. The Mango Mandarin *won’t* see what it’s doing to our country. Remember, he was going to take grocery prices down on Day 1? Yea, that never happened.
How about some responses from other countries? Well, to start, it’s not going to make any difference to China since they have been shut out of auto sales to us for a while. And their EVs are *better* than ours. Too bad, so sad.
Japan: Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba said Tokyo would consider “all options” in response to the tariffs. “We are strongly requesting that this 25% not be applied to Japan,” Ishiba said. “Japan invests in the United States, creating jobs and paying the highest wages.” European Commission: President Ursula von der Leyen said tariffs would hurt Americans, though she didn’t promise any retaliation. The EU had announced retaliatory tariffs in response to the steel and aluminum tariffs Trump levied this month, but postponed them in hopes of a negotiated agreement. The United Kingdom is not planning imminent retaliatory tariffs on car imports from the US, UK Chancellor Rachel Reeves said. The US is the second-largest market for UK car exports after the European Union, according to data from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.
Traitor Tot refuses to see what he’s doing to the US. He thinks tariffs make him powerful. Instead, he looks like a vindictive child. We’re going to lose more countries as alliances wither under the blasts of his ridiculous, petty bullsh*t. They’ve had it. We may only have Russia as an “alliance” in a couple of weeks the way this is going. Enough already. Really, child?
*****And now, please read a very special request from our awesome boss******
Zoomers, if you can afford a small donation or a subscription, it would help keep us in business. We are in month five of depressed traffic while a depressed nation tunes out. You can see why a lot of people are fed up with politics, but they will return. It’s just a question of time before people get over shock and dismay and decide to get back in the fight. Meanwhile, if you can help us keep trekking through cyberspace, we would appreciate it. Thank you. Ursula

You “love it” and are “thrilled by this”. Typical of an America last leftist. But what you(or any other lefty) hasn’t stated is why you think The United States should charge a much smaller tariff than what we’re being charged all around the world.
Do you actually know anything about tariffs or are you just as freakin’ stupid as your vaunted dictator wannabe, Drumpf?
Well not so smarty pants, I know that the U.S. has the biggest trade deficit globally. The U.S. charges 2.5% auto tariff on most of Europe but is charged 10% on average by EU and more elsewhere.
Just want to know why you think that’s ok.
Here’s the Canadian reaction:

He’s got both feet in it.
Lots of thumbs down but as i suspected no answers to why the U.S. should maintain the status quo trade deficit the rest of the world has enjoyed with us for decades.
