Well, is it yes or no, in or out for people?
The tRump administration sent an email today to tell people not to reply to Muskrat’s email. What a mess. And what the hell did Elon think he was doing? Sending out a gazillion emails, implied threats that if you don’t reply you’ll lose your job. Now the point no one has addressed yet is how he expects to *read* a gazillion replies. And departments are telling their people do NOT reply so how would he figure out if something like that was happening? Oh, and how about the employees who *can’t* have any emails out of the office so they don’t find this email until Monday?
He certainly terrified a bunch of people. I think many may get PTSD from this. I wouldn’t be surprised if they did. One way or another the mental condition of everyone is not going to be good. If he’s trying to cut waste, he’s completely going about it the wrong way. This goes back, again, to something I’ve said before – that they don’t *look* at what the agency does. They just decide some arbitrary number has to be cut and do it that way. How many firings have they had to walk back so far, because they *needed* the people who got fired?
Muskrat is just increasing his reign of terror. He wants everyone paranoid, thinking they will be on the “get fired” list if they don’t do something right. He wants everyone looking over their shoulders. He wants people to be unable to talk among themselves just in case they are being watched and say the slightest thing wrong without even knowing it’s wrong, 2.2 million people are scared half to death. How in the hell does he get off on this? I guess it’s about power. It’s about holding the country in the palm of his hand, to have people do what he wants them to do. It’s power over their lives. And there’s a total disregard for them as people because he’s turned them into numbers.
So now it’s not only are we going to survive the Mango Mandarin’s 4 years. It’s about whether we are going to survive Muskrat for 4 years. It’s twice as bad as we were originally facing. Now I’m really sure we don’t know if we’ll have a country left. The world is laughing at us, Elon is terrorizing us and the Confused Carrot is running rampant with his Executive Orders for the biggest or most petty thing. What a way to live.

Right up front I admit I’m not in or from the US, so maybe things are different there, but I DO have some knowledge of Federal Government procedures (low-level government career in a western democracy).
If I had received such a demand, I would have first checked that it was valid. If told it was, I would judge any reply to definitely be Personnel-in-Confidence.
So; I would have composed my reply and then printed and signed (at least) two physical copies. Then off to departmental H.R. to have one copy placed on my personnel file and the other sent via internal mail to DOGE.
That way there is a definite audit trail (which I presume we all want).
You missed the fact that Trump and Elmo don’t think laws, even the constitution, apply to them, only peasants like everyone else not a billionaire or a Republican.
I think Musk’s biggest problem, besides being a total dick, is that he has no idea what it is like to work for a living. What he is doing and tRump’s funding freeze are the two most damaging things to people on a personal level. They have no idea the harm they are causing, and most likely do not care.
Half the civilian workers he fired at the Pentagon are vets, “suckers and losers” according to Trump.who likes people who weren’t captured.
