Nothing happens in a vacuum and this particular instance of an unwarranted mass firing happens in the context of Donald Trump spending the past three days having fun. He was at Daytona on Sunday, riding The Beast around in circles so that he could get some of the attention given to the race car drivers. Can’t have them sucking up all the glory, right? Then Monday he golfed and today he also golfed, according to Ron Filipkowski at Meidas News. But something triggered Donald to look busy so here’s what came from his stubby thumbs late this afternoon. (Maybe he had a bad round of golf and needed to take out his frustration?)

Well, actually it begins tomorrow. Three p.m. is a little late in the business day to get much done. But Donald fired a lot of people on February 12, and even more U.S. attorneys found their government-issued devices deactivated Friday without being told they were fired or given an explanation for the deactivation.

In all fairness, anybody in or out of government who even expects an explanation from this wrecking crew of thugs is out of touch. Right now it appears to be part political theater and part deflection. Trump needs to steer attention away from how badly things are going in Europe. J.D. Vance is not exactly a big hit over there and Trump handing Ukraine to Putin and the wolves is not setting well with our allies. Or former allies, shall I say.

And there is a silver lining here. If there’s a paucity of lawyers at the Department of Justice that does serve to mitigate what damage the department can do.

Expect legal scholars to chime in. To be clear, each administration does replace existing U.S. attorneys with their own people but of course Trump has to do it as insultingly and jarringly as possible, because that’s who he is. This is the caveman government, what we’re seeing now. King Kong just thumped his chest and purged a lot of lawyers, aren’t you impressed? Quiver and quake in fear now, that was the purpose of this display.

Friends, donations have dried up this week and we haven’t gotten any new subscribers. If you’ve already helped, thank you so very much. If you can help a bit, it would be appreciated. We are in a slough of despair with the generalized Democratic depression on top of Q1 revenue rates being the lowest of all year. Thank you. Ursula
