This is another moment in Trump world which should be screamed from the rooftops by the mainstream media. But since they will ignore it, we need to scream it from the rooftops and the Democratic party needs to get on top of this. Only by hammering home again and again that Trump is a consummate liar and he has no intentions of even attempting to fulfill his campaign promises, much less the ability to do so, are we going to turn this political situation around.

He hasn’t the foggiest idea how to end the war in Ukraine. He doesn’t even have a concept of an idea. He’s all talk, no action. But this is what the American electorate bought and they expected a miracle. There will be no miracles. I promised you spectacle and spectacle you will get. But actual governance, actual solutions to the problems we face, inflation, the cost of groceries, gas, housing, the necessaries of life, that you will not see at all.

You heard the answer in the Davos clip, no, there is no Plan B. There never was a Plan A. And again, this is what Trump excels at is publicity. Life is but an advertising campaign for him, one long commercial. He will tell you what miracles he will create and then POOF! Nothing happens, it’s all a walk back and a pivot.
Trump is not supporting Ukraine. That’s a given. He’s basically shot his wad at this point and conceded that he has no way to stop the war in Ukraine. His threatened sanctions are a complete joke and have been perceived as such by the world and unquestionably by Putin.
So what happens next in Ukraine? Definitely ask Russia. Or ask Zelensky or ask NATO. There’s any number of people to go ask but forget about the American president. He has no fucking clue. And we have been deprived of whatever diplomacy Kamala Harris may have been able to implement. Instead, there will be reality TV for the next four years, not American governance, abroad or domestically, just Trump “playing” the role of president.
It’s only the first week of this sham, just wait. Things are going to get a lot worse and America will find out what it has done. And then — too late — it will remember the chaos and horror of COVID. I just pray that we’re in sufficient condition (like maybe eggs only being $2 apiece and avocados $10) to have another election so a Democratic president can take the reins and straighten out the mess. Like always.

I’m wondering if he will try to hang on for two years and resign, with a blanket pardon from Vance (ala Jerry Ford). The reason I say two years is it would allow Vance to run two more full terms and remain under the 10-year total specified in the 22nd amendment.

Let’s not lose sight of the big picture: the “powers that be” who back Trump want a 19th century version of the U.S. Replace income taxes with tariffs. No social safety nets, no regulation of business, no worker protections or civil rights; no FEMA, HHS, HUD, etc. Oh, but the U.S. can invade other countries at will, international law be damned.
“Leave it to the states” is their motto. Except that they are determined to cripple liberal policies in blue states.
They can only achieve their goals if free and fair elections are abolished, an effort that is well underway. We have many battles to fight, but protecting voting rights is our highest priority.
