Heard about this thing from overseas. Actually, 2 things. Europe is telling off tRump and some of his people. I am dying of laughter. Absolutely DYING. They made it very clear that the nonsense he has been trying to pull is Not Acceptable and They Will Not Take It. Oh, wow, something I never expected has happened and my hands are sore from clapping!
From Yahoo News: Anders Vistisen, Danish member of the European Parliament “Dear President (Donald) Trump. Listen very carefully. Greenland has been part of the Danish kingdom for 800 years. It’s an integrated part of our country. It is not for sale. Let me put it in words you might understand: Mister Trump, fuck off.” He’s getting in trouble for it but I’ll bet he thinks it was more than worth it. It was paraphrased to me as “Dude, we were thinking that, but you can’t just say things like this in an international forum.” And now you know why I have been laughing and laughing and laughing!
But wait, there’s more! Also from the same Yahoo news: Laura Ballarin Cereza, Spanish member of the European Parliament “And to (social media platform X owner, Elon) Musk, (social media platform Meta owner, Mark) Zuckerberg and company: in Europe, we have a market of millions of users that provide money to your companies, yes. But we also love protecting our citizens and democracies by making laws. If you don’t like it, you can always leave and take it or leave it. You can always take your Nazi salutes and your masculine energy and go back home.” HooooHAAAAAAAA!!!!
Now if we could only do that here in the US, wow, that would be something. But the risks are too high for some sort of retaliation that won’t be good. And that risk is very real. We need someone to stand up to DonOld and I can’t think of anyone that would be protected from his actions. Xitter, Instagram, et al, you might get to post something and have it fly under the radar but it will get spread around since there are no checks and balances anymore. Online social media just got a big boost in a bad way. All the hateful content has free reign. There’s nothing left of sanity. No more fact-checking. No more moderation. The bets are off. People can do whatever the hell they want to on social media and I can’t say that’s a good thing for our country.
But part of Europe has told off the Mango Mandarin and the masculine bullsh*tters in a no-holds-barred, very blunt way. I wish it would make a difference but it won’t. I’m kinda hoping that more of Europe will follow these examples. If nothing else, it will give us some entertainment here. It still won’t make a difference, but we can at least giggle for a few moments. And that’s something, a few sunbeams shining down.
