Let’s talk about the spending bill for a moment, shall we? The Mango Messiah did not get his “eliminate the debt limit” aspect passed, and a good thing it is too! I can only imagine what 4 years of spending with Trump the Idiot behind the wheel and how many countries are going to “own” us by the end of it. The man has NO self control and giving him a free hand with the money? OOoooooooofffffff. We’d probably be in debt to the world. Yes, the world. And what would that do for us as the leader of the free world? We’re already going to be laughingstocks because of Trump and it’s going to be a mess anyhow. I don’t want to think what we would look like at the end of those 4 years. And by the way, 40 million for his inauguration WHHHAAAAAAT???!!! I’m pretty sure that’s accurate, but if not, please feel free to correct me.

But to me, the best part last night/this morning was all the Republicans who stood up to Trump and his demands. Seems like Donnie doesn’t have control over his party like he thinks he does, and that has to be causing, at a minimum, lots of ketchup to be flung at the walls down at Mar-A-Lago. He won’t care because someone else will clean it up so he doesn’t have to worry about it. He can make as much of a mess as he wants (the question is how bad is it going to be in the White House, which certainly doesn’t deserve it. They should cover the walls with plastic.)

*ahem* back to the subject I was talking about when I got sidetracked by ketchup. I wonder if he has stock in that company? Derp, okay, okay, *really* getting back on track now. I honestly don’t think he had any idea that Republicans would stand up to him, let alone defy him. Personally, it was a wonderful thing to “see” because I had no idea they were there either. Maybe there’s a tiny little shred of hope for the party after all – although I’m not holding my breath. It started with 38 on Thursday then, by Saturday, it went to 170 House Republicans AND dozens of Senate Republicans voting FOR the new CR and AGAINST his demands.  SOMEONE had some common sense! Let’s not do crazy things, let’s keep the government in order and we can work on other things later. Maybe … maybe it won’t be all insanity. I’m waiting for him to undo all the good things Biden did, though. We know what a vindictive SOB he can be. I expect things to be undone that have nothing to do with him and he’ll change it out of pure spite. We know the man has no self control and I can hope some of these people can blunt or deflect what he’s trying to/going to do.

It’s hard to admit you’re scared about something but I am seriously afraid about this yahoo’s time in office. It’s going to be chaos and he doesn‘t have anyone to keep him in line anymore. I’m hoping he won’t be able to get around the 2 term limit because I’m pretty certain he’s going to try his damnedest to do so.

So, Republicans who stood up to tRump, I salute you. Keep it up.

  1. It’s not just the USA who is worried about the second Malministration of Mango Mussolini, it’s the whole world other than the oligarchies who want the USA out of the picture

Given the level of the present debt, someone somewhere knows how many countries already own that debt; not to mention how much of it is in Chinese hands. And, if the creditors want to cash in ………….

  3. Trumpler will up the debt limit, because he needs to in order to pay for the tax breaks he’ll give his rich backers, corporate and private. But he was trying to make President Biden do it for him and that failed. Well, duh.

  4. The debt ceiling is actually not a good idea. However, now is not the time to eliminate it, for all the reasons pointed out in the article.

The debt system was originally established to give the President MORE flexibility in managing government funds. Prior to its establishment, Congress had been forced to micromanage every expenditure. It was set at a figure so high at first that Congress figured it would never be reached. You can see how that worked. Inflation was not the only issue – the United States has also been expanding, and more states requires more money. Also, improving technology in all fields generates more expenditure, not to keep up with the Wongs, but to keep replacing outdated technology and enable the government to run smoothly.

If we could find a way to waive the debt limit for responsible Presidents while enforcing it on irresponsible Presidents, that would probably be our best option. I’m not sure quite how that might work. I’m thinking that, say, any President who successfully reduced the debt in the first two years of their Presidency would have the limit waived for the remaining two ( or six) years in office. But knowing the GOP, they’d likely find a way to abuse that too.

    • Not TOO difficult for Trump, trying to understand his idiocy with miss management of Tariffs …

I suppose no one has grabbed his chin and said you are a fuck up with Tariffs, the truth is, as you propose and initiate your backward Tariffs, it can cost Americans billions of dollars, you just don’t understand how they work and are too stupid to figure it out … Better leave those kinds of things for the Democrats as most of them have a LOT more school time than yourself …

  5. If those 40 continue holding firm, and the GOP requires Dems to do anything and they wake up and realize they can’t undo Social Security and Medicare if they want to be re-elected, the amount of damage he can do will have SOME limitations. Pray his Secretary of Defense so he can’t start WW III and RFK soo he can’t ban vaccine requirements aren’t approved.

  6. Just read (Forbes) that debt servicing alone costs about $1 trillion. With the intellect (?) of the president elect in charge, there is no safe way to dodge the Cat 5 tornado on the horizon. Chaos will abound.
