Okay, folks, this blew up completely. It’s been bugging me since I saw the comments on the column.

Here is a sampling, and thanks to the people who pointed out I was so, so wrong:

“A quickie online browse found this: “Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign clarified that they did not pay celebrities for endorsements, despite organising numerous concerts featuring prominent artists. Campaign officials said that while thy covered performance-related expenses as per FEC regulations, no fees were paid to celebrities for their support. Oprah Winfrey, who hosted a virtual town hall for Harris, also denied receiving personal payment.”

“I haven’t found any evidence about Kamala paying celebs to come out for her; can you give me some sources please Susan?
And methinks the fundraising must continue, to fuel the campaigns for the ’26 mid-terms. We all bemoan the awful fact of Trumpler’s re-election; but resistance to his regime is vital and will cost money.”

With even more thanks to jarvis wellesley and T Marie for their input and what I quoted, as well as underwriter 505, and jsteve 787, and carol, and Denis. All of you made me think, and realize I screwed up pretty damn badly.

I was NOT trying to demean Kamala in any way. I was trying to say I wish she would get back into the public eye and show she was still kicking, because it seemed like she had disappeared. I thought there were so many things she could still be doing to keep herself in the news and remind people of the joy and positivity she brought on the campaign trail. I wanted to say we won’t forget her and will still support her in what she chooses to do next, no matter what. Now, we couldn’t help with anything except moral support and donations if she tries to go for Governor of California. But we can at least do that much. I want to say I am hoping she keeps trying, because there are a whole lot of people in this country that believe in her.

This isn’t coming out right.

I am thrilled that celebrities came out for her at no cost!! I am thrilled that they believed in her enough to do so!!! I now see that part of my information could be called hearsay instead of being supported by actual sources so I was mistaken.

I don’t want her to fade into obscurity. I want the sane people of this country to remember her and what she did. We know what we did “wrong”, and will do MUCH better next time.

I’m sorry, to all the commenters, and Kamala herself. I didn’t mean to be negative and I didn’t mean to be condescending, or a “know-it-all”. I’m saying I was wrong.

    • Hahaha it’s ok. I believe T Marie posted this picture on my original column so it’s thanks to her 🙂 I had deliberately chosen the bad pic because of how stressed she must be after all the work and then the loss. And if you say bad things it means bad things about my writing so I need to fix them. But I really appreciate you nonetheless 🙂

        • Well, I am very sorry that someone downvoted you. They should have been doing it to me, not you. I had so many people jump on me that I had *no* idea you were tongue-in-cheek. And all your points were, and are, valid! In reply for your comment of earlier today on this one, I giggled, yes I did, especially with peering at the emoticon. Stay with us – I like hearing from you! (Beware, more postings to come tomorrow lolol)

  1. Thank you Susan for this follow up. I’m very satisfied to know that all of our comments were read & considered & I’m thrilled that the beautiful picture of Kamala that I posted was used as the cover photo for this article.

Like you, I wish that Kamala was out in the public eye more, after seeing her nonstop day after day & week after week, for several months like we did as she fought for the Presidency. But I suppose that in addition to returning to her regular VP duties, she has needed some time to physically recover from the nonstop campaign shes just been through as well as come to terms mentally from the disappointing results. She needs time to rejuvenate for the battle we all have ahead of us.

Coming to terms is something I have had a hard time doing myself, no doubt along with many others who had our hopes set on President Harris & VP Walz & a bright future for the country. Indeed, for the first couple of weeks after the election, I felt I was living in a nightmare & hoping to wake up from it. Now I’ve settled into a state of ANGER toward the stupidity of the ignorant & uninformed American voters who betrayed the country & democracy, all for the price of eggs & based on the never ending LIES they’ve been told. Not to mention the 1/3 of the country’s couch potatoes who couldn’t be bothered to get their asses to the polls to vote in the first place. And I still can’t help thinking that Elon Musk bought this election & votes from financially strapped voters for DON THE CON & his own benefit.

I keep hoping that President Biden would come up with a solution to save us all…. like sending SEAL team 6 to MAGA-lago & taking care of the primary problem. At the very least, finding a way to limit Trump’s powers like the GOP are attempting to do in NC to the new Gov & Lt Gov. If Biden could restrict the pardoning of the Jan 6 convicts, especially those convicted of sedition, etc.

I’ve been thinking a lot & upset that Joe Biden & the Dem Senate & House didn’t do more to protect the country from Trump during the 2 years they had power. There had been talk among Dems at end of 1st Trump term of the need to turn all of the “Presidential Norms” into actual LAWS that could not be broken, not that DON THE CON didn’t break plenty of laws & repeatedly violate the Constitution regardless. I don’t think the DEM Senate & House did a damn thing to put any of those protections into place.

President Biden accomplished a lot for this country in the Covid recovery & restoring it’s economy, But one thing that Biden failed to do was expand the SCOTUS to overcome the lopsided CORRUPTION put in place by Trump & CHICKENSHIT MITCH. If he had gone beyond appointing just the 1st black woman Justice to adding 3 or 4 additional women of various backgrounds, he could have had many additional firsts, ie the 1st Asian woman Justice, 1st Native American Justice, the 1st Hindu woman Justice, the 1st Muslim woman Justice. What a legacy Biden would have left behind.

It would have been significant & changed everything in terms of protecting this country. Roe would still be in place, DON THE CON would certainly never have been given IMMUNITY FOR HIS CRIMES & the 14th Amendment, Sec 3 would have kept Trump OFF THE BALLOT in 2024 due to his INSURRECTIONIST ACTIVITIES. These were the hopes & dreams I had for the Biden Administration that did not come to pass.

    • That picture you posted of Kamala is the best one I’ve ever see!!! I thought it was perfect for this apology column so I’m glad you showed it! I read *all* my comments because they are interesting and some provide information I didn’t have before. Most of the time they do not need a reply but sometimes they do.

Plus, it depends on what the comment is and if I have to defend my viewpoint, possibly because it wasn’t clear on what I was trying to say. So yea, I pay attention to what people have to say. For example, I did not consider all the work Kamala did with her campaign and *never* thought how grueling it would be physically. I just don’t want people to forget about her because she’s pretty damn amazing.

Yea, President Biden could have done more to protect the country and didn’t. I wish I knew why he didn’t because there ARE things he could do to help our country through the next 4 years. Let’s hope he comes to his senses and Kamala pushes him into taking care of some business. Absolute immunity!!!

I am both crushed and angry. But we have midterms coming up in 2 short years and we need to kick some ass to get our Congress and our country back! (We also need to kick Muskrat and Vivek to the curb. They seem to forget they can only *suggest*. They are advisors and there is no actual position they hold to be actually cut something. And if Social Security gets hit? Grrrrrr!)

      We can’t give up!!!!!! 🙂
