It started the day after the election. THE DAY AFTER. Arrogance, misogyny, and more have come out of the shadows. It’s no longer subtle. It’s more than blatant. I didn’t think it could get worse than that. It has. Phrases like the above, or “repeal the 19th”, or “get back to the kitchen”, have increased by a thousand percent, if not more, on social media. It’s worse in actual “real life”. How can the most FCKING advanced country in the world support this? I don’t want to go back to the 1940’s and earlier. I don’t want to go back to pre-19th Amendment and the RIGHT to vote.
I worked bloody damn hard to get where I am. Women have worked bloody damn hard to get where we are! Yet men *still* think that women are tools to be used and discarded when they’re “done”. They believe women are unequal to men in any number of ways. Now a whole lot of assholes think we should stay this way, if not regress, back to before what we worked so hard to do was done. We are being harassed and threatened not just online, but in person. It’s primarily groups of men, which makes me wonder if they are afraid to say things by themselves. It’s easier, and less personal (and less frightening) when it’s in a group.
Guess what? You do not own me, now, or ever. I will stand up to you (and hope I don’t get too badly hurt, if it comes to that)!! WE need and will stand up to you. WE can keep fighting. WE can keep trying. WE will do whatever we need to do. WE won’t give up.
And guys, as you read this, please realize I am not railing against ALL men. If you’re reading this, you probably accept women as equal partners. If you’re reading this, you support each other. If you’re reading this, you are strong and confident in yourselves, and some imagined weakness does not threaten you if a woman does something better than you. Well, there are things you do better than us. THAT is why it’s a partnership, not ownership. Journalists have suddenly stopped talking about this two weeks later. The problem has fallen off the radar in just two weeks. That means it’s up to us. Blogs/social media are open to us to keep our voices heard.
We have to keep at it. Often! WE. HAVE. TO!
The rest of the world with women in all sorts of senior positions from President and Prime Minister down looks on and shakes it’s head.
Little New Zealand tucked away at the bottom of the world has already had a time when every senior government position was taken by women all at the same time. Prime Minister, Head of main opposition party, Chief Justice (i.e. Attorney General), Head of State, Queen, Head of High Court.
NZ had the lowest death toll from Covid.

My brain is just as good as any man’s brain. I didn’t ask to be a woman, it was just a biological flip of the dice. But I was reading at 4th grade level when I started school, was salutatorian of my high school class, and had a 3.99/4.0 college grades. Top that off, I had two children, worked full time for 50 years, and any man who thinks I’m gonna sit back and get smeared just to bolster his deficient male ego has another think coming. Curse them and the horses they rode in on.
Women give birth to us all…It might be helpful if more men understood their sperm decides the sex of the child to be. What a conundrum, huh? There are villages in India that are majority male because sons were desired so much so that selective abortions (now illegal, but enforceable?) left them in a dire situation of their own making. “oh no! where are our vessels!?”Could it happen here or is the misogyny still too focused on punishing women for having sex? I’m guessing the latter, for now. Remember what is said about if men could get pregnant? Ideally empathy but…
Over the decades I’ve reduced many a “he-man” to sputtering by pointing out that all human beings start out as females after fertilization takes place. during development those destined to be males due to ole dad’s “contribution” have certain enzymes/hormones kick in at the right time so the fetus develops as a male. Biology. Faschinating stuff isn’t it?
