This is an unusual way to play things. A few days ago Donald Trump cut a video saying that the work of the Department Of Education was “going to the states.” And he was certain that the states would do a great job. But Tuesday he also stated that Linda McMahon of WWE is going to head the Department of Education. So is it both? Neither? Does Trump remember from day to day what he says and whom he appoints? Don’t ask me. I just watch each crazy story as it rolls across the screen and into my inbox.
Donald Trump has chosen his campaign co-chair, Linda McMahon, to lead the Department of Education, CNN reported Tuesday afternoon. The department has been flagged for dismantling or major overhaul by Project 2025 and even the president-elect himself.
McMahon and her husband, Vince, co-founded the World Wrestling Entertainment company, where she later became president and CEO.
During Trump’s first term, she was confirmed to be administrator of the Small Business Administration. She was appointed to the State Board of Education in Connecticut by Republican Gov. Jodi Rell in 2009. Trump has characterized the Department of Education as promoting “wokeness” and leftist ideologies in schools. He has also said it indoctrinates students with inappropriate content related to race and gender.
“We will move everything back to the states, where it belongs,” Trump has said, according to The New York Times. “They can individualize education and do it with the love for their children.”
Umm….so again I ask, is Trump going to “move everything back to the states” or is Linda McMahon going to handle the Department of Education? I guess we’ll find out. And this set an intriguing precedent here. Maybe Trump will simply make a statement one day and then change his mind the next. Or, he could change his mind on the same day. Put it this way, the New York Times broke a story this morning that Howard Lutnick had been named Secretary of the Treasury. A couple of hours later, Howard Lutnick had been named Secretary of Commerce. And no I don’t know if the Times got the information from Lauren Boebert. She is just the person to think that those two posts were one and the same.
Nobody knows. We are on a wild ride with a madman at the helm and who knows where this odyssey will take us? Maybe Hulk Hogan will be named to the Department of Education tomorrow. Or, hey, he could take over the Treasury post. That seems to be difficult to fill.
Nothing is too crazy or impossible with these people. No.Thing.
