I was completely expecting this. Jill Biden did the customary gesture to the incoming First Lady and invited Melania Trump to tea at the White House. Now mind you, back in the day, Melania made no such gesture to Jill. And today Good For Melania is trending on Twit/X because she’s refusing Dr. Biden’s honoring of tradition. And to be completely honest, I am glad that it’s going down this way. It would have been a complete fiasco for Melania to show up and pretend to have any semblance of a civilized conversation with Jill. They both know the score and I’m positive Jill is totally relieved. And so I actually say, “Good for Melania,” myself because it spares Jill the embarrassment and the hypocrisy.
Even though I don’t like trump you’re right. His wife had a hard time the first go round so I don’t see her being any diff this time. She didn’t campaign with him this time so I don’t think we will see much of her

Melania hated being in the White House and this time it will be no different. And I say fine. Let her do whatever the hell she wants. it’s better that all the cards are on the table and there’s no pretense that she’s married to her husband, other than on paper, and that she wants to be in the White House and perform all the duties of a First Lady. We know she doesn’t. We knew that when we heard, “Who gives a fuck about Creesmuss decorations? But I have to do eeet, right?” Yeah, I guess you have to Mel. I don’t know what your pre-nup says and I certainly don’t claim to know your rate card, but definitely, there’s a contractual obligation here and we all get it.
Queen Elizabeth got it, too. She said that “there’s an arrangement” between Trump and his wife. But this is the new abnormal, the second Trump administration. This is just one more tradition in this country that has been shat on and the MAGAs love it. They love the pettiness and the sense of vengefulness. They’re crowing about how Melania really stuck it to Jill. Anything that these people can do to trash protocol or tradition or decency in this country, they love. This is Lord Of The Flies time, the end of civilization.
The plain fact is that these two women have nothing to say to one another and it truly is best that they make no pretense. Jill Biden did what protocol demands and made the invitation. Melania did the expected thing, which was to decline. And I do applaud her for doing so. And I’m sure Jill expected the same thing as well and is equally grateful.
There’s no sense to pretend that this is some normal changing of the guard or that the Trumps are a normal political family. This entire situation is a fiasco. Again.
Poor America. I don’t know what we’re going to look like on the other side of this.
And you just know if Jill hadn’t made the gesture, then MAGA would be complaining that Jill was being “vindictive” and “petty” and right-wing media would’ve been falling right in line with that false narrative.
Not just right wing media. It is now ALL media that is acting like fux and their ilk.
I remember seeing the Obamas at 45’s inauguration. Michelle did NOT smile at either of the trumps. She may have smiled initially, but that soon faded. The look on her face seemed to say she was tolerating them only because she had to.
We all tolerated them. As best we could, because we had to.
This is just one more instance of what low class trash naked melanoma is. Money can’t by class and no matter how much she gets paid to be a token wife, she’ll never have it.
The democrats once again honor something this nazi and all his brood never will. I hope I’m wrong but I don’t see how we ever get our democracy back once the mad King decrees otherwise. When the majority are distracted morons who don’t want freedom or to think for themselves, and are unable to discern what’s gone down…like the economy, then our little 250 year experiment may be done. I worry for the children. I hate to admit it but looking at what’s getting ready to happen, I’d stop pretending democracy will survive Trump, so I would do what Trump would do if he and Biden switched places. After all we’re here because Trump has lied continually about losing by 7 million votes last time. I’d declare Marshall law claiming the election was rigged,(which it was by the media), and do whatever to maintain power. At least millions wouldn’t be incarcerated or killed by Trump. Sure democracy would be suspended…but Trump is going to end it permanently if he can…and WHO IS GOING TO STOP HIM? Change for the good is better than what we’re going to face shortly. Sometimes you may have to do whatever necessary to save our system for down the road. The democrats are not the true fighters they claim. They are willing to be destroyed as long as they follow the rules of democracy…rules that Trump will NEVER HONOR.
The U.S. has a Civil War going on, has for a while now! Until the Democrats grow some balls & fight back with strength & DETERMINATION, just like the GQP, WE are DONE.
