Whoa, Nellie! This is getting stranger than hell and very fast. We have seen now, twice in 72 hours, Vladimir Putin do or say something anti-Trump. I have no idea what could be motivating this, but let’s look at the story from United Press International and parse through the facts. As you know, Russian TV recently ran a story on Melania Trump’s nude modeling days, and now this.
Nov. 11 (UPI) — The Kremlin on Monday denied reports that U.S. President-elect Donald Trump held a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin last week.
“This is completely untrue, it is pure fiction. That is, this is simply false information. There was no conversation,” Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told reporters in Russia.
And intriguingly, the Trump camp was contacted and they will not confirm nor deny this report from the Kremlin. That weak waffling has to be seen as an unspoken admission that Trump is full of shit.
“We do not comment on private calls between President Trump and other world leaders,” Trump’s communications director Steven Cheung told the BBC in a statement.
The Washington Post reported late Sunday Trump took part in a call with Putin from Florida earlier on Thursday following his victory in the U.S. election, citing multiple sources that were present at the time.
During the call, Trump reportedly expressed to Putin the United States’ desire that Russia not escalate the war in Ukraine, The Post reported.
Let’s take a moment here. The Post reported “multiple sources that were present.” So is this a liar’s contest? Because either the multiple sources were in league with Trump and reporting on something that didn’t happen, or the Kremlin is the one lying about the call. My gut instinct? I say trust the Kremlin before we trust the president-elect of this country. Never thought my fingers would bang out these words, never thought my brain would think them, but there it is folks. Donald Trump is the Father Of All Lies, a distinction previously given to Satan, but Trump left the Prince of Darkness behind way back.
And it seemed a trifle odd at the time when Trump said he had spoken to Putin, because generally speaking the president-elect doesn’t chit chat with the Kremlin right off the bat. But in this world “odd” doesn’t mean what it used to.
So what is going on?
Ukrainian officials also said they were not aware of a call taking place between the two world leaders.
“Reports that the Ukrainian side was informed in advance of the alleged call are false. Subsequently, Ukraine could not have endorsed or opposed the call,” Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Heorhii Tykhyi said in a statement to POLITICO.
Why would Trump lie about this? Why would Putin call him out for lying? This is a plot twist that would do a Tom Clancy novel proud. This is intriguing. There is more than meets the eye going on right now. The only thing I can say with absolute certainty is Putin is calling the shots, not Don Don the Clown.
Too funny for words. Perhaps because tyrant used muskrat for money and help in “winning” the election rather than crawling back to Putin like last time? The nude pix of melanoma and the anchor laughing was priceless. Now this. Don’t know, don’t care why. I’ll enjoy the laughter rather than crying all the time. Between this and the magats just now learning about how tariffs work and crying about it…PRICELESS!!!
This is exactly how we have to think. Yes, Trump is “in power” but he’s also hated worldwide. 50% of America is against him. He’s not going to have the easy life he thinks he’s going to have.
ursula, why would you doubt the call? all sirts of world leaders spoke to the president-elect, as they do to every single one even when they hate the thought. it’s called diplomacy.
Putin is every bit as much the father of lies as Trump is. he gets no credibility at all. i have no idea what long hame he is playing. trying to escape blame for having interfered to elect trump yet again? why would he worry? establishing dominance over trump? definitely his style, but making it public like this is a step beyond.
I agree, there’s no more reason to believe Putin there is to believe Trump. But there is reason to believe Zelensky. You may say, well he wasn’t on the call, how would he know? Answer: Ukraine has excellet foreign intelligence, and I believe Zelensky would know if it had actually happened. Ergo, Putin is probably telling the truth.
Zelensky I believe. I also would find it interesting if Trump did lie about the call as the Kremlin is claiming. Very interesting.
It is very interesting indeed. And I wonder if there is any clue in the timing. What is the chronology of this supposed call, or the announcement of it, in relation to the Melania peep show? I’m wondering if that exposé was payback for something Trump did lately that pissed Putin off.
Trump set up a fake call in front of others to appear “moderate;” he asked Putin to ease up on Ukraine?
This is all planned by Putin so as to continue the chaos amongst Americans and politicians.
And Trump is the perfect foil…
I like Peter’s idea. I think putin is just about done with Trump. he’s gotten just about everything he wanted sp now he can leave Trump to finish the job of breaking America. he can just sit back and enjoy the show.
Sounds like a well choreographed, well coordinated, cooperative effort on both sides to deceive the herd of sheep watching and listening. It’s just like a Punch and Judy show!
I could almost believe that, except if so what was the Melania show about?
I see in the original WaPo article that five people (unidentified by the Post) said they were familiar with what happened, and that the call took place. Trump supposedly asked Putin not to escalate further in Ukraine. If that really did happen, I can believe that Putin was pissed off, and then the Melania show makes sense as a sor of “You don’t tell me what to do, sonny boy.” Then Putin denying it ever happened would also make sense, precisely because Trump wanted credit for having done it. From this angle it makes sense that Zelensky denied knowing about it precisely because he DID know about it. Because otherwise it would have raised questions at the Kremlin as to how he knew about it.
