I wonder if somebody can sign PTSD treatment for all Americans into law? It seems to me that sweeping mental health legislation in a post-Trump world is a reasonable thing. I thought that before I listened to his latest rally, where he outdid himself. During a riff about how he’s going to deport all the illegal aliens, he mentioned the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 and “how they ran it rough” back in that day and age, half a century before slavery was abolished. Yeah, slavery was running it rough, I guess. Unless you’re a graduate of the Ron DeSantis school of thought, that slavery was a free job skills training program (along with room and board, what a deal, right?)

I think “the Weave” translates as, “I’m going to pretend that the ability to just stand here and keep my lips moving is somehow an accomplishment.” There is nothing else that makes sense. Kamala Harris is knocking them dead in her last rallies but Trump is sleepwalking through his. If we can just get through today, tomorrow and Monday…..

I remember hearing a pastor or a college professor, I forget which, say a profound thing: “There are two basic emotions in the universe, fear and love.” We have lived to see a political election being waged on that basic premise. The fear platform is not an appealing one, let’s just say that.

There is more to this idiocy but you’ve seen the lowlights of it. I think the central issue here is that Trump has run out of gas and either he doesn’t know it, or the combination of dementia and meds to keep him on his feet have rendered him incapable of realizing that basic fact.

The Trump of 2016 was something new, an iconoclast, the new broom that was going to sweep clean and usher in a new era. Instead, all he did was fumble in office since the first day, when he and his dimwit son-in-law, Jared, found out that they actually were supposed to hire staff to replace the people in the Obama administration who were on the switchboard, emptying waste baskets, making the White House run on a daily basis.

Then came the international embarrassments and the crisis with COVID, which claimed the lives of 1.1 million Americans. It was a four-year, non stop fiasco and then Trump lost by over seven million votes — but couldn’t handle that, so he incited a riot, cobbled together a conspiracy theory to cover up his failure, all of that you know. And he made a cartoon villain out of the world’s leading epidemiologist, Dr. Anthony Fauci, such to where that good man had to hire armed security for himself and his four children.

Now, this husk of a worn out man seeks to capture lightning in a bottle and it’s not going to happen. But I don’t blame him. I put the blame for this almost decade long, waking nightmare that America has endured, on none other than the Republican party. He is their monster. They created him. And Barack Obama said this from the get go, that Trump “is not the problem. He’s the symptom.”

The GOP ran out of gas some years back and morphed into a fascist cult, with a charismatic leader. Trump is still the best that they can do in the year 2024. And yes, Trump will go down in flames on Tuesday. I believe that will be the case. But politics will still go on and I say we should start thinking to the future, what will the GOP do next? I couldn’t wait to see how they bottomed George W. Bush and I am afraid to ask how they are going to bottom Donald Trump.

So what is a fascist cult like without their leader? His mind is gone, he’ll soon be in prison, he’ll have no assets or money, and huge debts. He won’t be able to grift, he’s over, he’s more likely to die than live.

A cult without their leader fades, dies, and is soon gone.

    Our nightmare will be over.

  3. Ursula, I don’t think that Trump’s reference to Alien Enemies Act of 1798 and “how they ran it rough” is an endorsement of slavery, even though I think he’d personally love to have slavery again, racist that he is.

If he gets into office again, he is going to say that the “invasion” from Mexico justifies using the Alien Enemies Act of 1797 to deport and/or put into concentration camps all non-white non-citizens. Formerly that Act has only been invoked three times, when war has been officially been declared, but with the free reign that the Supreme Court has given him, he won’t feel it necessary to wait for a declaration of war.

    • Disagree. He intends to use it to punish anyone who disagreed with him or criticized him.
I’ll wave to you as we’re arrested. I used my own name,so I’ll be easybto.find.

  4. I’ve always believed the appallingly cruel child separation from parents policy at the border was an attempt to create a new form of American slavery. By NOT keeping records of where children, so many only a few years old (or younger) were sent and other actions the point was to create a huge pool of kids who would grow up with NO legal status in this or any country. They would be at the mercy of the system in every sense and I imagine there were plenty of buyers (GOP donors) who wanted to get their hands on these youngsters to “raise” them into a servant class. Let’s say as adults they ran away? And especially in a GOP state? Who could they turn to for help? Again, there was some very dark and evil thinking that went into that whole thing. And there are still over a thousand kids who were taken away from their parents that because of how “well” the Trump admin covered the tracks that haven’t been reunited with their parents. Or at least a family member.

Don’t think for a second Trump, with Stephen Miller at his side managing the new “American Slavery Program” do it again.
