The Trump crusade for a second term has been the Paradise Lost of presidential campaigns. It simply has been going on forever, almost two years, since November 16, 2022. Trump did the early declaration deliberately, in order to fundraise and suck attention. And now we are finally on the last weekend of this journey. If a decision can be reached Tuesday night as to who won the presidency, we will be blessed. Let us hope that is the case because in any event, you know that Trump will bellow and howl that he has been robbed of what is rightfully his. He has already begun the process by complaining of fraud in Pennsylvania and Marjorie Taylor Greene has complained of the same in Georgia.
Trump’s events calendar has been updated and it goes until Monday night so I am assuming that this is the final stretch. And within that stretch there may be more McDonald’s and garbage truck photo ops, who knows? I would like to believe that Trump pretending to fellate a microphone is the lowest that we’ll go but I would be naive to believe that. Maybe this weekend or Monday we’ll see him unzip his trousers and urinate on stage? That’s the one place he’s drawn the line, maybe that barrier of decency will be shattered, too.
Trump is going to North Carolina, then to Virginia, for reasons known only to him, then back to North Carolina and that’s all today. Sunday he’s going to Pennsylvania, back to North Carolina, and then to Georgia. Monday he’s going to North Carolina and two stops in Pennsylvania, then a late night rally in Michigan, starting at 10:30 p.m. Who is going to be attending a political rally that late on a Monday night?
In any event, it’s clear as glass that North Carolina and Pennsylvania are his areas of concentration and that makes perfect sense because he can’t afford to lose there. Trump has lost a lot of support amongst white voters in North Carolina since 2020 when he beat Biden by 66% to 33% in this group, which makes up nearly two-thirds of the state’s electorate. This year, his share of the white vote is down to 58% while Harris is receiving about 40%. A six point drop is a lot. And a seven point rise for Harris is a lot. This is why this state is in play.
As to Pennsylvania, polling data also shows that Trump’s base of white voters in Pennsylvania is shrinking, which could jeopardize his path to victory in the state—and potentially in the overall election. For example, the latest Fox News poll, conducted between October 24 and 28 among 1,310 registered voters in Pennsylvania, showed Trump is leading white voters by only 4 points. In 2020, he won the demographic by 15 points in Pennsylvania, according to CNN exit polls.
Wow. Down from 15 points to only four? The Great White Hope, Trump, who is going to make America white again, is losing support amongst whites at that rate?
Harris can lose Pennsylvania if she picks up North Carolina and Georgia and wins in Nevada. If she picks up Arizona, that would be a buttress against losing North Carolina. James Carville thinks that Harris will win in Georgia. That is plausible. Trump put the State of Georgia through complete hell in 2020 with his demanding of recounts and all his idiocy. It stands to reason that he could lose there.
All we can do is speculate about all of it. But we won’t be speculating much longer. It’s Saturday. All this winds up this weekend and Monday. Then we brace ourselves for the results and Donnie’s rage fit.
Anyone out there with the smarts to try to help us figure out how bad muskrat will hurt the yous and mes, rather than the millionaire/billionaires that of course will not be affected but will rather make out like the bandits they are. I’m talking when he crashes the stock market, does away with all social security, Medicare, veterans benefits, welfare, disability, etc. I’m trying to wrap my head around this. Just trying to fathom it all….my mother and father grew up in hard times. I’ve worked hard all of my life and have a very nice portfolio and retirement nest egg and do not want all of it gone in a nanosecond. My body is broken from the hard work I have done all my life to get this far. I just started collecting my social security and it’s really pathetic, but I took some time off to raise my son during some times when he was having problems and needed me. I have read and read and cannot figure out how bad and for how long, just that it’s going to be depression era bad but magats say it’s going to just be “a couple of year and worth it to get the US straightened out”. Those same people who complain about the price of bread and eggs….geez. Your help is greatly appreciated. I need to have backup plans for protecting what I have. I will have an elderly mother and disabled MIL in a nursing home and with dementia, to probably support as well if they cut what they have promised to cut. I need some thoughts here.
I guess I think about it this way Carol: I’m coming up to when I can, well should, draw on my S.S. In about a bit more than a year I will sign up for Medicare. Now, if after paying into those programs all my life some pasty-faced out of shape white boy from S.Africa thinks he is going to take it away from me, all I can say is I’m going to get my three hots and a squat some way. If it is through the retirement I have earned, all well and good. If it is by ridding the world of some obnoxious p.o.s. trust fund baby, also well and good.
These fools think they can do whatever the hell they want and not suffer any consequences. It seems like they stupidly have not been paying attention particularly to A) their mango moron buddy who is in over his head with felony convictions, money owed from lawsuits, etc. and B) to what Americans do when they get pissed off and folks get them riled up and violent. You take away that last thing we can count on, that thing we have paid for over all these years, just try it is all I’m saying. The outbreak of rioting and violence largely led by the elderly and folks fixing to be elderly will be nation consuming I think and the world will be a much better place without a pasty-faced, out of shape, white trust fund baby from s.a.
My thoughts Carol: just relax a bit. Take care of your Mom. Watch how things play out since I figure we’re not going to know anything Tuesday night and possibly not by the end of the week. Don’t buy trouble that isn’t here yet. I really think that as soon as that idiot from s.a. opens his yap and threatens our s.s. and medicare/medicaid, he will not be long for this world. Of course I also think he’s not going to be in any position to do that because it doesn’t look good for trump. When you’re a reactionary moron magat and behind in crimson red Iowa, I would imagine you’re in a lot worse trouble in places like PA, MI, WI, NC, AZ, and NV.
My wife and I have been kiving abroad for a number of years, but we always make sure to vote in our home state of North Carolina, and t is NOT for republican candidates, never, never, never.
On November 5th our nation faces a critical test. Will we fail, letting republicans and the Orange Felon’s MAGA cult take us backwards to a time when a woman could not vote, nor drive? A time when there was no “middle class”, but only the ruling elite and the working poor? Or will we pass the test and secure our Democracy, our Constitution, and our rights?
I hope we pass this critical test because if we fail, the MAGAs and republicans will drag this country down into a hell from which we may never be able to recover! The MAGAs and republicans have already caused so many problems, so much misery and even death to so many millions of Americans! We cannot allow them to continue to divide this country and drag us down any farther! On November 5th we must vote them all out at every level, every last one of them!
