This is getting to be a regular occurrence now, double checking to see if something with Donald Trump’s name on it is in fact coming from him, or if it’s parody. When you see this, you will understand why I double and triple checked this to see if it was real. And this is not only real, it is pinned to the top of Trump’s Twitter account, so this is definitional for him. At least until he decides to pin something else in its place. Once again, Trump is pulling the fascist card. That is the *message* of his campaign, is that democracy is done, basically. Color it gone. And the new American way is a dictator, him, and military rule. Trump has already said he was going to reinstate the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 and here is the military that he intends to use to enforce it — as he rounds up “the Other” inters *them* in camps and then deports *them* en masse.

I’m sure I don’t need to explain why I thought that had to be parody. But it’s not. This is really how Trump wants to present himself and his campaign. It is “liberation” time for “occupied America” and Trump’s military will not be “woke.” We see that. We are tracking this as it develops day by day.
I don’t know why Team Trump thinks this is a winning message. I think this is completely batshit and any normal minded American is going to see it as such.
The best I can conjecture is that Team Trump believes that MAGA and anybody who could be persuaded to vote MAGA, wants a militaristic government and a strongman leader. This is the opposite of the traditional GOP notion of government so small you can drown it in the bathtub. This is America as a militarized society — which makes some sense, since Trump openly declares his admiration for countries where a *president* is in office for life.
The only prediction that I feel completely safe in making is that it’s going to get even crazier in these last few weeks. That’s not my thought alone. Lincoln Project is saying the same thing, that these messages are going to get even whackier.
We do have a lunatic running for office on the GOP ticket. Not that that is news, but this is ratification of that notion, if ever I saw it. And you may recall that just a few days ago Trump was demanding military planes and vehicles in his last days of the campaign. That’s not specifically true, now. I think what is really going on is that he views himself as a dictator and simply wants to get all the hardware and the trappings around him. Make no mistake, if he was to be elected again, he would have tanks rolling down Pennsylvania Avenue. In a heartbeat.
Trump has always loved the trappings of government, all the jets and tanks and parades and what have you. If he were to get in again, it would be completely Hitleresque from Day One. And if you thought the grift for the Inauguration and all that was wild in 2016, you ain’t seen nothin’ yet.
This madman must be defeated. Talk to every single person you come in contact with and urge them to vote.
I believe he would really prefer to ‘inter’ (bury) anyone and everyone who disagrees with them rather than ‘interN’ (lock up without trial) them.

It was originally an RAF base, used by the US Army in WW2, became a base for a gliding club in the 1960s and was the site of an internment camp in the 1970s.
Regarding the US base, ‘Long Kesh’ comes from the Irish name ‘An Cheis Fada’ – the long pathway over a bog. That was discovered, the hard way, when the US Army managed to ‘lose’ a Sherman tank when someone parked it off the hard standing. It was discovered when they were digging foundations for an extension, buried in the bog and, with a bit of cleaning and work, they had it running again

Where IS Grover Norquist, anyway, and what are his thoughts on Trump’s ideas of “government?” Since the Teabagger movement basically developed from his ideas, and the MAGA movement is largely an outgrowth of the Teabaggers, you’d think Norquist would be far more visible than he’s been of late. (Then again, from what I’ve read on his Wiki page, he might not be all that welcome with the current MAGAGOP–though most of the information on the page kind of stops before Trump’s political rise. The only thing I can see there that’s more recent than 2016 is a note that he signed the Madrid Charter, a far-right document attacking left-wing groups as “enemies of Ibero-America,” in 2020.)
If I am recalling this correctly he was an instructor at U.M. in Missoula. I don’t know if he’s still there or they shagged him off after his loony tunes ideas became public. I suppose a duck-duck-go search would yield something.

That kind of training does not make good warriors. It makes unthinking machines, most of whom will leave the military just as soon as they can. To make a real warrior like MSgt Rodney Evans, to name just one, requires a very different process. And, of course, it halps if those you are training have character to begin with. I doubt many Trump** enlistees would. (though they might be “characters.”
I was a 26 year old college grad when I volunteered for that. I could think then, during and afterwards. If you haven’t been through it perhaps you should keep your opinions to yourself. Yes, it’s the job of the DIs to break everyone’s spirit and then build them back up. What outsiders don’t understand is while they train us to follow orders, even ones we know might get us killed they don’t want automatons. What they DO want and need is for us to be able to overcome fear, and more importantly to kill our enemy before our enemy kills us.
It’s a world you know almost nothing about. I find you comments almost insulting as Trump using Marines or any other branch of the service to promote himself.
