Democracy may be the system of government that allowed a being such as Donald Trump to be elevated to its highest office, but now “democray cray” is the only system in which the man is actually qualified to function in. He is simply coming unglued over every media appearance that Kamala Harris makes. And she’s been doing a lot, from podcasts to late night talk shows to the venerable 60 Minutes appearance which aired on Monday. Trump is particularly up in arms over this last one.

The issue is over CBS allegedly “replacing” a “bad answer” of Harris’s with a “good” answer.

It will be interesting to see how many more brain cycles and news cycles Trump expends on this nothing burger of an issue. The 60 Minutes interview was successful for Harris and Trump had his own opportunity to appear on the broadcast. He declined. He is the only presidential candidate to decline an invitation during a presidential election in the past 50 years. But this is the newest cause to celebrate in the wingnuttia sphere.

Granted, 60 Minutes has a large viewership. But this one interview is not a do or die situation. It’s not going to make or break this election. Once more and always, Trump has to get a conspiracy theory rolling to show that the Powers Of Evil are against him and Everything Is Unfair.
The man is childishness personified. I suppose if there is one silver lining in all of this, it is for America to look at the fact that the Constitution is very open ended in its requirements. One need only be 35 years old and native born. Education, experience, all the other requirements for almost any job, let alone the nation’s most important job, are left open.
Think about that: any other executive job would require a minimum of a certain number of years in the given field and a number of years in a high ranking position within the field. But not the position of president of the United States.
The movie Idiocracy had a rapper as president and we have seen a reality TV star become president in our own lifetimes. Maybe some amendment to the Constitution, specifying having attained at least one elected office before running for president, is a good idea.
When the era of Trump finally comes to a close, it will be a time for reevaluation and correction, on that you may depend.
As my ex-husband would say “how does it feel to want?” I sense a great deal of jealousy on Donold’s part. Remember the tremendous streaming episode he did? Somehow his efforts just don’t seem to catch on like hers do.
Donald is yesterday’s fad. He’s like the hoola hoop, remember that? It was a big deal, everybody had one. I don’t know if you could give them away nowadays. He’s got nothing new, whereas Harris/Walz is fresh and interesting.
Li’l Lindsey Lickspittle’s right, for once, though I suspect he didn’t mean to be: publish the transcript and that will refute Trump’s moronic moaning about editing. Trump himself is possibly the most edited individual ever on networks like FUX and Newsmax, where they carefully omit all his gaffes, stumbles and the worst of his derangements. The retain his whines and lies of course, as that’s all that’s left.
Also: President Zelensky was an actor before he became duly elected leader of Ukraine, and he, being a man of real character, has excelled.
Something to remember; Being a person of character, and being a character are far different! Orangebob Von Shitzinpantz is the latter! Vice President Harris is a person of character.
I guess nobody is actually “handling” Trump this election season, as that term is understood. If there was, I don’t think this would be going on. It’s stupid and a waste of time.
Plus, I would love to know why his calendar is dark for ten freaking day the last month of the election process?
The argument that CBS aired a word salad early and then showed a good, cleaned-up version in the actual show as a benefit to Harris doesn’t make much sense to me. Have Trump and his brilliant staff never seen a movie trailer before? Just like a movie trailer, a news org. releases the “best of” the interview (movie) to get butts in the theater seats/eyes on the interview. Showing the good version first would make more sense from a marketing standpoint and Trump (the king of TV) should know that!
He’s putting all his energy into something that doesn’t amount to a hill of beans. That interview, by itself, is not going to influence the electorate. A totality of effort is what’s going to be decisive.
The fact this immature pampered fascist has the support he does is an indictment of this phucked up culture. FACT!!!! When you tell lies as history for 248 years it’s a guarantee karma will visit sooner or later.
Let us do what we can to see that he goes down in flames so that the karmic cycle can be broken and sanity remains in the White House.
“Idiocracy” One of the most chillingly prescient movies I’ve ever watched. I think it was meant to be ridiculously over the top and kind of edge of your seat funny. But how things have turned out was way too close to what chilled me to the bone when I first watched it – way before Trump and MAGA. Vote Blue!!!! Our futures depend on it.
The guy is having a breakdown right in front of the world’s eyes. Anyone who supports this obviously demented person is living under a rock. There is no excuse for supporting this…thing. It is past time to clean house in our nation and that entails making sure the republican party, and all its offshoots, dies.
While we’re at it the federal court system is an embarrassment-any judicial system with the likes of cannon, kavanaugh, thomas, alito…is not a competent judicial system. Time to clean that house too.
