In the weeks after the second of two assassination attempts on Donald Trump’s life, it has become all too common for those around Trump to blame Democrats as the violent actors behind the such abhorrent acts. It was in that spirit that Eric Trump took to the stage in Pennsylvania on Saturday to make even more malignant allegations; Democrats were trying to kill Donald Trump – an idea so atrocious it descends to a new level of low in American politics.

Former Republican National Committee Chair Reince Priebus stepped up today in an offensive attempt to defend Eric’s atrocious rhetric. On ABC News’s “This Week” host George Stephanopoulos asked Priebus whether he could defend such allegations against Democrats. He did more than just defend it, Priebus nearly made the same attack himself:

“The fact of the matter is, if Donald Trump’s head was one tiny twist the other direction, he would be dead right now. So yeah, when your dad almost gets killed and when he gets shot again, look, I’m not suggesting the Democrats are doing it, but the rhetoric that Donald Trump is a threat to democracy was a Democrat talking point.”

Right – so he’s not suggesting that Democrats do it but then Democrats do speak of Trump being a threat to democracy so they are doing it – or something like that. The fact that Trump and MAGA-nation now call Democrats a threat to democracy is, of course, not relevant. One can always find dangerous violent criminals, at which point the only hope is to contain and imprison them. Politics has nothing to do with people who seek to break society.

Democratic strategist Donna Brazile was even angrier than most of us and lit into Preibus for the association. (Video Below Column)

“Look, I got to say something to you. I come out of the civil rights movement. Nonviolence was our touchstone.”

And so it should ever remain, for all sides of the political spectrum. But Brazile was just warming up in her fury with Priebus:

“There’s no, no, and I mean this, there’s no place for violent rhetoric. And when you threaten election workers, when you threaten to execute your quote unquote former Joint Chief of Staff, Mr. Milley, when you mock Nancy Pelosi’s husband being beaten by a hammer, I don’t want to be lectured by Eric Trump.”

No one wants to be lectured by Eric Trump on anything but yes, he is so far beyond all reason, sliding right into fanning violent tendencies himself – such that he should be shut down in speeches. Politics as a whole has become so heated that the nation might be teetering on a cliff. Too much of it was born in Trump dogma.

Brazile continued:

“We need both political parties, both leaders. Do not go out there and blame Haitians. Do not go out there and blame immigrants and migrants. That is the rhetoric we hear every day.”

Brazile makes a critical point but it should be noted that obvious examples abound with which to hold Trump accountable for escalating rhetoric. The situation devolves to become angrier and even less relevant. The video is below.

Trump made his name in being over the top about everything, whether it was steaks or universities. Now he increasingly uses words like “worst,” “best ever” indeed “never” and “always” – and on and on. So it’s not that unusual to hear the most extreme from any Trump. But there really needs to be a line.

Yes, Trump came terrifyingly close to losing his life that fateful day in Butler, PA. Such an experience would tend to make most people come to grips with their lives, wanting less violence, fewer extremes, more outreach, increased understanding. Eric and Priebus want to go the other way. Instead of being part of the solution they come dangerously close to ensuring that more people are hurt due to their proximity of or partaking with American politics.

It needs to stop and Brazile has part of the answer. It is time to take measure and forcefully call out any attempt to increase violent inclinations. It has become necessary.

      • Carol, I don’t think that you are saying that a person who planned to kill a king with a knife or with poison was not attempting to assassinate the king because he didn’t use a gun, so let me get to the point that I think that you are missing.

Are you saying that a person did not attempt to assassinate a king if he was pointing his loaded gun at the king, but a bodyguard spotted him and shot him before he could pull the trigger? I think that that is an unsound argument. If there was a court in that jurisdiction, I am sure that he got charged with attempted assassination even though he did not fire a shot. I think that he would be charged with attempted assassination even if he hadn’t pointed the gun yet.

So, yes, there were two attempted assassinations.

  1. Mirror accusations: a nazi tactic where you accuse the other side of things they’ve never done and would not do…but are things you’ve either already done or plan to do. Something the American Nazi Party,(gop), does regularly. Having a gullible populace full of hypocrisy is extremely helpful to fuel this evil.

  2. If we made a large poster of Orangeman trussed, knocked out and possible dead in the back of a pickup truck, and stuck it on the tailgate of a truck, we would have been locked up. The magats need to STFU about violence. Really, just STFU magats!

  3. And of course both ‘attempts’ were made by people who are members of his own party, registered republicans.

Not people with Democratic connections at all.

They love quoting the Bible, here’s another clause for them…

Matt.7 Verses 3 to 5 – Bible, King James Version

Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.

  4. Someone needs to alert Uday, howler monkey 2, or whatever the fuck he’s called, that should his daddy get what’s coming to him, and he will after President Harris takes office, the various and sundry A.G.’s are going to go down the list and get the REST of the criminal trumps. Were I you I’d make sure my passport was up to date because I’ve a feeling you be even less of a success in prison then your asshat father.
