I wonder what karmic error the actor Anthony Hopkins committed in order to be cast in a feature role in the madness that is Donald Trump’s Inner Thoughts? Now that’s a movie that would be worth seeing, the Inner Thoughts of a raving madman. We already have seen quite a bit of Trump’s mental landscape. We know it is replete with sharks, boat batteries, cancer-causing windmills, dead birds, mentally ill whales, innocent patriots who are in fact rioting criminals, and all manner of weirdness. In the middle of this panoply of paranoia,  there is the fictional character, Hannibal Lecter. Hopkins did such a good job of portraying Lecter that it won him an Oscar. Now, it appears that another Hopkins role is destined to be revived and that is the character of Abraham Van Helsing in the 1992 movie, Bram Stoker’s Dracula, directed by Francis Ford Coppola. Here’s why.

Totally batshit and no pun intended, even though vampires are the topic of discussion. So if we listen to Roseanne Barr, never a sound idea and particularly not in this instance, Donald Trump is the vampire hunter, Van Helsing. He is the one with the cunning and the tenacity to stop the vampires. A truly bizarre metaphor for the back and forth between the two major political parties and worse yet, Barr means it literally.

And it’s about the same time frame, the movie we’re now talking about. Hopkins played Hannibal Lecter in the 1991 film, Silence Of The Lambs, and then the next year, 1992, played Abraham Van Helsing. As we all know, Trump is locked in a cultural time warp. He references Elvis, who died in the late 70’s, Hannibal Lecter, Michael Jackson’s moonwalk, which took place in 1983. His favorite songs are Y.M.C.A. (1978) and Gloria, (1982). Trump has been called “the crypt keeper of the 80’s” by one of his biographers, who claims he hasn’t updated the decor of his office since then, either, or the cut of his suit, or his ties.

The 80’s and the 90’s were a while back. This new madness that Roseanne Barr and other right-wing personalities are coming up with is simply so beyond the pale that it’s not funny, it’s just stupid. And the fact that a presidential candidate is involved with this is just simply nuts. Politics can’t be a form of entertainment or reality TV. Or this nation will be over as fast as you can say Idiocracy three times and click your heels together.

  1. Wait a minute. Isn’t Trump one of those “elites?” I mean, I don’t know what kind of world Roseanne’s currently living in but she’s there chatting with Tuck-tuck Carlson whose stepmother is a wealthy heiress; also Carlson’s alma mater, Trinity College, currently runs $68K in just tuition and, counting room and board, the cost goes up to $90K and, let’s not forget the reported 7-figure salary he was taking home from Fox “News” and he reportedly owns not one but TWO homes in Florida and spends part of the year in a home in Maine. Not sure how many of Carlson’s fans share that kind of “non-elite” lifestyle.

I swear, it’s getting to a point where I’m starting to think that the right to vote should be tied to IQ or the ability to pass some other type of tests to measure intelligence. With those in place, we’d certainly be able to get rid of about 90% of MAGA. I’m sure at least 10% of the MAGAts recognize Trump for what he is–just a showman and they’re there just for the “entertainment” value–but the rest, simply by voting for Trump, have shown they don’t have the necessary brain power needed to vote.
