J.D. Vance, among other things, is showing us the handbook for what happens to somebody when they take out their moral compass, put it on the ground, and take a sledgehammer to it, all in the pursuit of profit and power. Whatever reasonable ideas he may have had at one point, he decided that the right-wing, anti-woman, quasi religious faction was the one he wanted to court. Hence his outdated ideas on marriage. Vance will face off against Tim Walz on October 1. You can take it to the bank that this is one of the issues that they will discuss.

This is not good optics. Plus Vance repeating that he told his son to “shut the hell up” does not make him look like Dad of the Year. Tim Walz, on the other hand, does look like Dad of the Year. Every decent soul who saw Walz’s son leap to his feet and say, “That’s my Dad,” beaming with pride at the convention,was moved. The indecent souls had to take shots at the young man for having a neurodivergent disorder.
I think MAGA should rebrand as MAGB, which is Make America Go Backwards. Quite a bit backwards to when women and children were chattel. We, as Americans, don’t come out of an idyllic age. Tragic but true. It’s well known that people used to treat children as slaves. The kids would go out and work the fields. If they went out and worked other farmers’ fields, and collected wages, frequently their father took their wages, as his just due. After all, he owned his children, right? And consequently the fruits of their labors, right?
Right-wing media influencers and podcasters have gone on record saying that they would like to see women lose the right to vote. That’s sheer madness, to disenfranchise fully half of the voting population.
And then there’s Mark Robinson who refers to the LGBT community as “filth.” J.D. Vance has not come forward to rescind his endorsement of Robinson. Neither has Donald Trump. So if they’re not rescinding, what they are doing in fact is ratifying Robinson’s crude and vulgar speech. That is not great optics, either.
Vance needs to do some housecleaning this weekend. If he can. At least it would be worth the effort to attempt to mitigate the damage already done and try to spin himself before the debate as more of a moderate.
Because if Vance goes into next week’s debate in this posture, on this set of facts, he is simply going to be a roasted marshmallow. And Tim Walz has the long stick upon which to impale him and the fire over which to toast him to a crisp.
I change my underwear because it is dirty and to wear it longer would make me into an object of distaste. So, even on his very ignorant scale about how often/why people leave marriages , he is not making a good case. Of course the ad put forth by L.P., once again makes him look like the biggest fuckwad in the room. He must like the look because he sure does wear it a lot. Who in the hell advocates for people to stay in marriages with a violent, dangerous spouse? What kind of idiot does dumbass shit like that?
hillbilly dumb ass also thinks safety standards for child car seats is what’s keeping people from breeding. You know, I have friends who have told me many reasons why they don’t want children or why they do not want more than the one (s) they have. Never, not even once, did child car seats even enter the conversation. Not. A. Single. Time. When financial concerns were mentioned as a reason for keeping family sizes down, it was for the children’s quality of life, their opportunities, their futures.
What in the fuck is wrong with these people? Is it so hard to see that smaller families are on average healthier, better educated, happier families? Is there some fucking problem with families being happy? Is there some fucking problem with people, with or without children, being happy? How did this EVER become someone’s business other than A) the woman’s, and/or B) the people involved in raising, paying for, etc. the resultant children? How did this fucking EVER become ANY concern of these asshats? Of all the stupid crap they seem to think they need to pay attention to and control, this has to be these MOST asinine thing of all.
