I think it’s safe to say that North Carolina is now officially the center of the political universe. At least from now until Election Day. Then, who knows? It was moving in that direction of its own accord. Kamala Harris had an incredible night in Greensboro, North Carolina on September 12. A night of magic. The hall was packed to the rafters. That was a mere week ago and at the time the political pundit class said, “This is a sign. This could turn North Carolina around for the Democrats.” Now today we got another sign, albeit from the other end of the cultural spectrum. Whereas Harris had a packed house of people filled with hope and joie d’vivre, today in North Carolina a CNN bombshell dropped and the Republican gubernatorial candidate, Mark Robinson, looks to be driving a stake through both Donald Trump’s heart and the GOP’s. Even Thom Tillis tried to warn people about Robinson, but no, they didn’t listen.

These videos are not, I repeat, not aging well. And neither did Robinson’s ugly remarks about everything from MLK, Jr. to slavery on a site called Nude Africa. CNN wrote a bombshell piece on this and once again, something that would have been a race changer, that would have caused somebody to drop out in a saner world, bounces off. Robinson says he’s still running for governor of North Carolina.
And that’s GOOD! Great, in fact! Because Trump needs North Carolina and Kamala Harris needs North Carolina and Robinson just turned into an anchor around Trump’s neck, forget about an albatross.

There are reprints on Twitter of graphic sexual passages penned by Robinson on the Nude Africa site. They are so graphic and profoundly vulgar that I don’t feel comfortable posting them here. You know they have to be pretty bad because we tell it all around here. But seriously, go over to Twitter, where Mark Robinson is trending, and see for yourself. But they do serve one useful purpose: they make Trump’s grab ’em by the pussy comment pale into insignificance.
That is probably how history will remember Robinson, as the Republican whose public recounting of his sexual peccadillos made Trump look like a boy scout. And this man is courting the Evangelical vote. Look for that to blow up over this. The lines were already being drawn with the Evangelicals For Harris group seeking to reason with MAGAs. Now expect that behavior to go forward on steroids.

Where I wonder has Franklin Graham Been hiding? As the guy who ruthlessly seized control of the empire and legacy of Billy Graham, and a North Carolinian ole Franklin sure hasn’t been saying much these past months as Robinson’s foibles have exploded. When even Graham seems afraid to step up to NC Evangelicals and say they have to support Robinson it really drives home just how big a P.O.S. Robinson is. Even if Graham makes some last minute plea for forgiveness for Robinson I’m not sure it will play well with the Jeebus Freak crowd. I’ll bet tons of them are embarrassed as hell. Not that they will vote for Harris or any Democrat but I can easily see many tens of thousands of them NOT voting for Robinson. And maybe not Trump either. As close as the margins have been in Presidential and most statewide races that’s enough to make the difference. In OUR favor. I’ll settle for that.
Again, I see nothing here or on CNN that would cause him to lose a single MAGAt vote……nothing here that Geriatric Elvis hasn’t sniveled himself and nothing that his unwashed masses would disagree with.

He was never going to win anyway, but he will lose no MAGAt vote over these comments. If he were to say them today at a rally, he would be cheered.

Robinson was not the first and won’t be the last of this type of story. There is No. Such. Thing. As. Vetting. in MAGA GQP. There is only tribalism.
