A defining moment was reached this past week when both the Democratic and Republican vice presidential nominees showed up at the same union hall in Boston on different days. Not only was the day different, the reception that they both generated was night and day. Tim Walz expressed his gratitude to be there and he was met with roars of approval. There was a mutual admiration society in that room. And J.D. Vance…well, Vance’s situation was a trifle different. Showing is better than telling.

That’s as good a summation as you’re going to find anywhere. Vance is not only tone deaf, he’s oblivious. The day he called a group of firefighters “haters” my jaw dropped. I could not believe he was that self destructive. But indeed he was. And while the right wing is drumming up memes about Tampon Tim, (the sobriquet that Trump uses on Truth Social) nobody on the right is able to come up with the comedic clarity that people on the left have about J.D. Vance.
I think Trump should have gone with Dan Aykroyd as Beldar Conehead and he would have been much better at this.

Belder Conehead is no less weird than J.D. Vance or the whale head-sawing, roadkill-conveying, anti-vaxxing conspiracy theorist who can’t talk right, RFK, Jr. In fact, I’d say it’s even money at this point.
I’m telling you, friends, Vance is starting to make Ron DeSantis look normal. And DeSantis had an affect like a space alien that crashed in the Bermuda Triangle and somehow washed ashore and decided to get into Florida politics. If you wanted to write a spoof of this 2024 election, you would do well to start with that and work your way into Trump and Vance tying the campaign knot.

This is why disinformation exists. This woman can vote and if Trump can just find enough of her, he can win. Put that in your crack pipe and smoke it. No wonder people abroad laugh at us. This is what the dumbing down of America hath wrought.
I hate to say it, but yeah: stupid is as stupid does. We had the show Big Brother on Chanel 4 for many years in the UK. I watched it for several years until the country voted a winner (Brian?) who was thick as…and I said then we’re simply celebrating stupid, and stopped watching it. Regrettably it seems that premise has leaked into other areas of actual 2life, and not just in the UK. Celebrating stupid. I wish we would stop now. Please stop now. 🤦♀️
