You’ve no doubt heard the comment, “The cruelty is the point,” with respect to MAGA. We know that Corey Lewandowski has returned to Team Trump and his philosophy is “let Trump be Trump.” That apparently carries over into “Let Vance be Trump, too,” and J.D. Vance is toiling away to do just that. I honestly don’t believe that this crude attack on Kamala Harris is going to attract any women voters beyond the most hopeless right-wing cases. And a lot of them may now be alienated because of Trump’s recent flip flop on abortion and his endorsement of “socialist” medicine, i.e. the government paying for an elective medical treatment like IVF. Take a look at Vance’s latest low.

Rick Wilson thinks Lewandowski is running the show and that makes perfect sense.

I love the knowledge that Corey Lewandowski is only back running the Trump campaign because we put him there. Months of ads dinging Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles took their toll, as we knew they would.

Lewandowski is Trump’s id, an enabler of the man’s worst instincts and worst behaviors. Lewandowski will never correct Trump. He won’t try to steer him in the right direction for victory. He is a man who lives in the immediate moment of Trump’s pleasure or displeasure. As the author of the “Let Trump Be Trump” strategy, Lewandowski will be the last guy in the Führerbunker, telling the Donald of the glorious feats of arms and singing songs of victory for long-defeated armies.

As Chris LaCivita’s new boss, it’s working out splendidly. Trump is whipsawing around on issues like abortion — oversteering into the curve that Trump created — and allowing Trump to dig his political grave in impulsive and dumb moves that alienate more and more Americans by the day.

You’re welcome.

This is the most hopelessly hostile presidential campaign in the history of politics. And speaking of doubling down and Chris LaCivita, take a look at this travesty. And take a look at the return punch, below it.

I don’t think insulting one’s way into the White House is going to work. And yes, I get it. That’s what *worked* in 2016, although it didn’t. 2016 was a compilation of factors, primarily the fact that Hillary Clinton was a deeply unpopular candidate, coupled with the fact that Trump had sold his “brilliant businessman” and “self-made billionaire” persona to America via his TV show. Also, Trump was a novelty act in 2016. That’s why he got many millions of dollars worth of free publicity from the press. He was a cash cow in those days.

Now he’s an old sick cow, and his pathetic meanderings around the pasture are repetitive and dull. He’s no longer the shock jock whose every utterance on social media gets gawked at and pored over and analyzed. Those days are long gone.

Trump’s in burnout phase (like any “star” and I’m sure that will be a comfort to him) and he’s as new and exciting as yesterday’s weather report. Vance has hitched his wagon to this burnt out star and he’ll see exactly how far that gets him. Oh well. I guess he can always go back to work for Peter Thiel and Karl Rove. But Vance would do well to play his cards right. If he goes back to work for those two, they are likely to be thinking about how to cobble together a new party from the ruins and people who are identified too much with Trump are going to be disqualified.

Whatever the new GOP is going to be, it cannot be MAGA. MAGA continues to lose. Some form of the GOP needs to become post-Trump and get back to conservative values. Or, they can continue to lose and the vitriol between the right and the left can worsen. I don’t see that happening. I think that when Trump loses in November it’s going to be a watershed moment and hopefully a wake up call. The fourth wake up call in a row, to be precise, but maybe this one will be loud enough to do the trick.

  1. Vance has stated that he “doesn’t have to apologize for telling a joke.” This was a “joke” about both Harris and Catie Upton, a Trump supporter who certainly didn’t ask for this. The question that doesn’t get asked or answered is: “are jokes your job right now?” I thought running for VP was the biggest job right now and continuing to be a US Senator would seem like it should be important as well. Does Vance even remember the Senate?

  2. I hope women are paying attention, very close attention, to the contempt von shitzinpants, hillbilly boy, and all the other magat/’pube candidates have for women. I hope this because women stand to lose the most should any of these people get elected/re-elected in November. If women are not paying attention, or are f*cking stupid, I sure hope they’re going to like that new wardrobe (crappy long dresses), the diminished education, and that not being able to leave the house without a man accompanying them. If anyone thinks that is not in the cards should shitzi regain the w.h., you are positively delusional.

  3. This shit show in the Trump world of make-believe, should show ALL possible voters how insensitive, stupid, hopelessly self-centered a bastard he is, vocally, Vance has placed his own neck in a rope and dares anyone to challenge his, “smooth, smart delivery”, with outrageous actions, way beyond acceptable political discourse …

If you get a sour taste in you mouth as you see-hear-and cannot believe the free-for-all stupidity in the Trump camp now, you had better think how relieved we all would be if Trump sank down to court appearances ordered by all the interrupted charges/Judges before the 60day window closes … GO AHEAD AND DRAG THE SOB INTO COURT NOW!!

His violent and cruel performances are the very thing to trigger another attack against our Democracy … We cannot depend on the vacating of Trump’s followers to shut down his gun-bearing freaks … With Trump in prison, virtually no way to communicate his vile plan to his die-hards and ALSO the fact he would lose his hopes for a self-serving Oval office …

Good riddance and peace for our citizens …

  4. I guess when you’re a good little boy who graduated from Yale Law school propped up by a billionaire, you’re wayyyyy above any concern for others. This culture honors such good little boys and girls who follow the rules of becoming a lawyer, a doctor, an accountant, a professor, a man of the cloth, etc. If you don’t, then you become a pariah. It seeps into all the major religions. Every phucking body is an ‘expert’ on every phucking thing. We are a nation of liars and hypocrites and shallow people chasing comfort, certainty, and status. THAT’S WHY WE ARE WHERE WE ARE! That’s also why Allen Ginsburg’s poem HOWL begins with: I’ve seen the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness. Yep. We don’t elevate the best, the courageous, the rebellious. We elevate CONFORMITY! Vance wouldn’t exist if we didn’t. Oh, and HOWL was banned.
